Hi, i LOVE doom 3!! Only problems is it wont run properly -_- I have a 1920x1200 monitor (which the res only goes upto 1600x1200 or something like that -_- which LOOKS really bad on a 1920x1200 screen -_- Lol Ive ever edited the config files to run at 1920x1200 but that also looks wierd lol does any one know ANYWAY (apart from buying a smaller screen) to make the game run better?? Like i say i LOVE the game :D and i really clant play it the way it is at the mo -_-

As far as I am aware the game isn't able to run at true widescreen resolutions, it just streches say... 1600x1200 to 1920x1200 so everything looks wider then it should be.

yep tryed that :( the hole thing looks.. weird.. and blocky too -_- -sigh- my fault for upgrading i guess lol

Buy a nice 22" Trinitron screen for it.. ;) Probably cost about £20 collected or have a look on mm they sometimes go for free.. You will just need a bit of space... ;)

turn scaling off on your graphics card options, it will just mean you get black lines around the borders of the screen, it wont be 24" but its the cheapest and most obvious solution.

I don't know why the widescreen forum method doesn't look right to you. I use it on my 1920x1200 24" monitor and it looks fine. Maybe there's something else wrong with your game or monitor settings?

Not a very good game anyway.
The OP obviously likes doom 3, so pointing out it isn't a very good game is a bit silly. And also, you're wrong, so there!

Just today I tried to play this, and was dissapointed at the res options :(

Running 1920x1080

Half Life 1 can run this res, but not Doom 3 :D

hey. a question about this game, i have 5.1 surround sound with 6 channels enabled. yet when i load the game, it tells me i have no surround and it defaults to stereo? and also it wont let me use EAX 4.0?
Thanks

@OP The config tweaks will work, ensure you also set the aspect ratio correctly.

@tmaxx You need to patch it - the original release does not have surround support.

Doom 3 is terrible. Only a single level in the whole game had any atmosphere to it. The rest of the game was nothing more than non-stop being shot/hit by an enemy appearing behind you/in front/below/above in a lame attempt to make you jump.

And anything that needs to be said already has been :p

1600x1200 looks ghastly on a 1920x1200 screen? Maybe. But if you set it to 1:1 pixel mapping and put up with black bars down the side it will look perfect!
