hi

im getting 10 kps on my 10 meg connection its a very painful experience lol . im new to windows 7 , does anyone know how to speed things up a tad .

cheers

10kbps downloading anything? Is this via wifi or ethernet? I think whatever sort of connection you use, check for driver updates.

hi

thats ethernet and yes d/loading anything .ive disabled antivirus /firewall etc and still no joy .

as said try updating the drivers, do you use a router? what is that synced at? could try rebooting it?

i don't think this is a windows 7 problem this sound like an issue with the router/modem or line! can you post the line stats please so we can better see whats going on!

hi
ive just d/loade and running a d/load manager and im now getting 200 kbs ( 3dmark vantage ) , thats a lot better but still not as fast as running xp . after this d/load ill try rebooting

cheers

you should be getting a lot more than that nearer 1000, have you tried a speed test.http://www.speedtest.net/ , if that gives u 200 then its a line/router problem if it dosent then it could be a windows prob or an isp speed cap depending on what u d/l m8.

The OS realy shouldnt be the cause of slow download rates.

Have you recently had your broadband speed upgraded?

And have you tested download rates from a variety of sites using large files to get a better idea of your average transfer rate?

Also if you have other computers is the same speed issue occuring on them as well?

Run a few speed tests at different times of the day if possible. I don't see how it could be Windows 7 which is capping your download speed.
