Downloading videos off the internet?

There is a plugin for Firefox called Download Helper. A quick google should find it. It's useful for grabbing video from Youtube and other sites. Not sure about the BBC though. Try it.

NetVideoHunter is a lesser know firefox addon that is far less popular than Download Helper (because it isn't as pretty) but works on almost every website.

N.B the bbc encrypt everything - legally they have no choice.

I know pirating is illegal...
But surely if you pay for a tv license, downloading BBC programmes for instance should be allowed?
You can keep programmes recorded with freeview/sky recorders forever.

It is not possible to download BBC stuff. It is therefore necessary to record to your computer using a Freeview card or satellite card in a slot. WinDVD7 is good

Not true.

Get_iPlayer still works well. Need to read some wikis/manuals to learn how to use it fully but it's capable of downloading the HD streams also.
