DPD bunch of cowboys

DPD are a great courier. I have previously worked in the courier/delivery industry.

I worked for Nightfreights 2 man specialised delivery service. I was the call centre manager.

The main key accounts for the 2 man service was John Lewis and B&Q for their large goods.

Anyway DPD seem in general better than even a specialist provider for John Lewis, and John Lewis has probaly the most demanding customer base out there.

The DPD delivery guy that comes to my place is fantastic. He could do nothing better than he does it at the moment.

I believe though that it's silly to expect perfection, if DPD were to make sure every driver they had was perfect they'd price themselves out of the market. All they can do is the best they can within reason, which is what they appear to be doing.

When I order something and I see it's DPD I'm pleased.

Edit :

No, you know what, OCUK can stick it up their ****

I'd like to know what it was that was ordered. Some things might not be too bad - a short cable or watercooling interconnect for example - but I'd imagine a graphics card might be painful.

Also, do OcUK have specific people who would do this? I know Gibbo for example is in charge of purchasing, so he wouldn't, there's guys that do the builds... are there specific people who shove things up their **** when customers request, or is it split between the staff?

I have only had one major issue when my order got lost in the depot during the bad weather before Christmas in 2010.
5UB sorted it out.

Just WOW, have you picked up your toys yet?

DPD are one of the best couriers. Never had a problem with them unlike some of the others which I won't mention. The hour time slot they give you works very well and have always managed to deliver in this hour slot.

I live in the countryside and you could argue it not the easiest to find but they find me no problem.

Another happy customer with DPD. Parcelforce are equally as good IMO, never had an issue and they're tracking is good along with their timing.

I noticed DPD now send emails when you order from OcUK, giving you the date and then the email in the morning of the time it's due.

Again... Not OcUK's fault... it's DPD's. Don't blame them.

5UB... I've posted in CS. Any chance you could handle my case please. You do seem to be rather good at your job and I've had pleasant dealings with you in the past.

I will do first thing in the morning. :)

I am not at work at the moment, so no access to my work software, or anything else. :)

Will have a read now though so I know what to expect in the morning.

One more point. When I mentioned we get DPD problems maybe 6 a day, that is the maximum. Believe it or not some days there are no issues at all. - Pretty impressive when they are dealing with several hundreds of our parcels. Not only that they deal with over a million of parcels a month with all the other contractors they deliver/collect for.

This. And from it, I find they do a brill job. Still don't do a UPS, but then, they don't do a UPS price either :D

DPD decided to class my friends address as Highlands so now he doesn't get free delivery despite getting it from them in the past. He's not in the Highlands, DPD are just greedy.
Same with when I lived at my previous house, DPD classed it as Highlands, yet i've now moved 8 miles north of before and now I get free delivery again. The mind boggles.
I get everything sent to my work now, always seems to get there faster, and I'd be honest if I was paying for next day delivery i'd use royal mail's special delivery.

Nope DPD are not greedy. This was actually our mistake, well not really a mistake we just looked over it and was too generous.

The next day delivery he got for free at the "Highland" rates; we were actually paying triple the prices he is paying now per delivery for him then. So not was he only getting free delivery, Overclockers were shedding out a lot of money for the Next Day service in his area which is a lot more than what he pays now.

The cost of the price he pays is the same price as the whole of the UK Mainland (which we have reduced). However it does actually cost more in general for the 2 day service anyway (roughly double). So technically although it is unfortunately taking a day longer and is not free, it was just not cost effective for us to be giving a premium service for free, as much as we would have loved to, unfortunately the business would just die.

I think the point is that DPD are cutting it a bit short because Aberdeenshire is absolutely not the Highlands.

Couriers in general: All depends on the drivers and the managers for particular area's. Some play by the book, other's bend the rules or out right lie. Some will even turn up to a location without a package just to shove a card through the door to say they attempted delivery. This is because there is massive pressure on proof of delivery, and money can be claimed back (or not paid) to the company paying the couriers.

Don't take from the above that it's all bad, it isn't.

That said.. City Link were always the worst for me personally. DPD have actually been pretty good. I have been utterly livid at City link on at least two occasions, one of which they outright lied to me, saying they didn't have enough time to deliver (IT was about 4:30, they deliver up to 8 o'clock at the time.) I drove 30 minutes to the depot, and found out the driver was already back at the depot. No time? Bull, they just didn't want to deliver to my location. I got the parcel there and then.

And lastly... you really shouldn't be rude to OcUK for the failings of a courier service. We understand you are peed off, but taking it out here is not sensible. Write a letter of complaint to OcUK, and it will be dealt with professionally (no not a hit man).

DPD are terrible. The last 20 things I've had delivered by them turned up on time and undamaged. The last 3 turned up early and got me out of bed. Cowboys.
