Bunked off work today for a trip to Thorpe Park but wasn't able to go, so went to the new fave photo spot with the mrs :) Here's what we came up with.

Damsel by me:

Dragon by her:

I turned off all image processing in the camera in favour of complete manual control, so these are my first self-sharpened images. Think I did ok :p

C+C welcome please :)

I really like the first one, although to me the body looks a little out of focus? Could be my eyes / monitor though :)

Second one I personally don't like as much - I think it's the bright background which is a little distracting.

Both very nice though :) Wish I could find some critters like that to photograph :(

Amazing! I went around three local lilly ponds a few days ago in the baking heat and couldn't find either a Damsel fly or dragonfly for that matter.

I much prefer the dragon fly with that crop :)

Thanks, I agree the background is too bright, we were shooting into the sun though, not sure if a circ-pol would have been able to fix the reflected light at that angle (does it only work at 90°?) hmmm.
