Dreams - Not the only one?

it means your a closet gay !

How many of you have actually punched someone in the face that cant dream about it ?

My dreams are always so detailed its insane, but I can never remember most of them once I am out of the half asleep state. Remember little bits, last nights was odd.

The punching one. You throw it, but it just doesn't have any force.

And when im anxious/stressed my teeth break in my dream, turn to powder, crack, fall apart. Its horrible.

Get 'Sleep Talk' for the iphone, i record my nights and sometimes you can hear yourself saying stuff that you've dreamed about.

I love having the ability to remember my dreams, my girlfriend (or ex now, not sure haha) hates/hated me for how cool my dreams were.

About the punching dream, seen this on another site, which said it was from another site...

"To dream that you are stuck, represents helplessness and feeling of being unable to escape from life's problems/stress. You have lost confidence in yourself and in your ability to move ahead in your life. Your lack of clear goals and low self-esteem may be a common cause for such dreams."

I have the running in slow motion one too, being chased by something bad. It feels as if I'm running at full speed but yet I'm barely moving and whatever it is that's chasing me is catching up and I start to panic and wake up. I don't think I've ever been caught.

I get dreams quite often where I try to run from something but get pulled back, as if I was attached to a bungee rope or something... Also if I'm crossing bridges, no matter how surefooted I am, I'm magnetically drawn to the edge and always feel like I'm going to fall...

I rarely dream these days, or perhaps I do and don't remember them. The few dreams I do have though are just this recurring nightmare of falling to my death from a huge sky scraper. I've now developed a fear of heights due to this.....

Found out recently that a friend had been having a couple of similiar dreams, freaked me out a bit, I dont know much about why dreams happen or what causes them, wondering if any of you have any of these recurring themes?

Not being able to punch someone? Throwing it and just as it gets to them it slows right down or grazes off them?

Or a dream where you can never get anything done, usualy miss a plane or trip and it repeats itself?

Mad ... i have a similar re-occurring dream, punching someone but not be able to hit them hard enough!

Or another one ... trying to pick up something really small and not being able to grip it

Weird lol

I used to dream very lucidly when I was younger, a lot of flying dreams, which i still occasionally get but only a short period where i'm blessed with levitation, full-on flying in dreams feels dangerous to me now.

I've had some very weird dreams lately, one was I managed to get hold of a minature star like the sun, but small enough to put on a cabinet in my bedroom, it was hot and bright at first, but quickly burnt out!

I've also had a several apocalyptic dreams too, most recent being watching news coverage about how 40% of the earths land mass was devastated by huge flooding, and seeing survivors who were just in total despair.

Loss of motor control in dreams is merely a manifestation of the paralysis your brain induces whilst asleep to stop you acting out your dreams, they've done experiments on animals where they've removed the brain area responsible for this and you can see the dogs and cats acting out there dreams...

Ive always thought that the reason you get the feeling of "slow" punching, or not getting the feeling of running at full speed is because you are lying down in your bed with a duvet over you, which restricts actual physical movement, so whislt your brain can replay the mental "feeling" of punching, or running, physically you are unable to do so.

I may be completly wrong though!

I believe this is correct, although it has more to do with a chemical your body releases during sleep to restrict movement, than duvets. This chemical and inability to move is also the source of all the "ghost pinning you down in bed" stories, succubus/incubus stories, and various other night terrors.

If you're unfortunate enough to wake up with this chemical still active, as sometimes lucid dreamers do, you may imagine something is holding you down, and your brain tends to compensate, making you see something that isn't there (typically a black cloud, or other demon/ghost/monster).

Have the punching one quite regularly.

Also the running one.

Also have one where i go to lunch in a public place with only my trainers on but i thought everyone would be like that, but they aren't so i decide to stay and eat anyway to avoid the 'embarrasment'.

Another dream i have a lot which is quite disturbing is where i see through someones eyes outside my house and i see them coming through my back door walking up to my room and right over to me until they are looking over me then i wake up half asleep cacking it!

Wow, lots of cheese really does send your dreams up the spout.

Really odd night, the first dream was me and a mate driving in his car, when we came across this side road, full of mud and rocks etc. We drove up it, but it got steeper and steeper until we were on top of a mountain, and below us was a huge lake.

For some reason I knew where I was - and that I had to get to the land on the other side of the lake but I couldn't see a way down. Below though, in the lake itself, it seemed like the bottom of it was tiled like a swimming pool?

We drove down, to ground level again, and went to the edge of the lake where there was a Costa and a WHSmith, so we had a coffee and waited for a boat to come and get us, which then crashed into the shops and then I woke up.

Not doing that again!

Freud would have a field day with some of you lot ;)

If we didn't dream we would eventually crack up as our dreams are often a way where we can act out our fantasies and deal with our frustrations :D

They are so variable that it would be hard to try and analyse everything that ever happened in them.

I've had some belters in my time I can tell you! I lost my virginity in my dream (oh my god did it feel good :D) in a prison cell in an empty bath with a female prison officer :D

I remember when I lost my virginity (the day before the original live aid) to a ginger lassie who's curtains didn't match the rug and lasted all of five seconds. The dream one was much better as at least I didn't wake up lying next to someone on the livingroom floor who's breath stunk of Pernod and black :o
