Are there any drive-in cinemas in the UK? I've had a look in Google but can't seem to find anything so perhaps there isn't anything other than those mobile screens that you sometimes get on Brighton beach for those Stella Artois/Film4 promotions.

Can anybody think of anywhere that has one permanently in the UK?

I doubt there is any permanent ones, we dont have the weather or the market for them really. Its also hard for them to get a radio license for the night.

They are becoming few and far between in the states too.

There's a temp one that goes up in Manchester every summer, pretty much only plays E.T. though :D

I went to one when I was a kid.
UCI at the metro centre opened and they hung a huge screen from the multistory car park.
It was the rescuers and it was as poor then as it was when it was first released , to get the audio we had to tune the car radio to the local station - Metro FM.

Chucked it down with rain all night and we all got a free Mcdonalds happy meal , I got rootbeer and developed an instant dislike to it.

It was freezing cold and with 4 of us in the car the windows kept steaming up so we couldnt see much.
I cant remember if we stayed to the end but I very much doubt it.

I reckon that was about 1987 , give or take a year or two.

Nice little story for you there :p
