Anyone know a driver site that scans for updates and is a free service ???

Still i have Out Of Date drivers and a usb device not recognised... Windows Update is no good.

i don't know of a all in one site, but if you go to the sites for your components then u can get updates there! have you checked that your usb is the enhanced version in your device manager?
Unplug all devices until the unknown dissapears. Then report back what it is that you need drivers for.
Updating drivers is fairly simple. I always try to install in this order:
Chipset, graphics, network, sound, firewalls and av - then anything else.
