I want to upgrade my work/production PC to Windows 7 and I'm trying to come up with a decent hard drive config.
I'm tempted to buy a 120GB SSD for the OS and programs, but I worry it won't be enough, so I'm looking for a fast, reliable hard drive for OS/programs. I work pretty much all day every day programming and testing, but also do some photo and video. Could anyone recommend a good drive for this purpose?
For storage (music etc), I'm considering a RAID setup; either 2 x 2TB disks in RAID 1 or 3 x 2TB in RAID 5. Perhaps Samsung F3 or F4?
I've never configured a RAID array (other than on my QNAP NAS) so I don't know what the score is and whether it will work ok with my Abit IP35 pro motherboard and I'm a little worried about running 4 disks in my tower, generating heat and noise. Or I could do without RAID and use the extra disks as backups (I'm terrible with backups though).
Can anyone give me a little advice?
Cheers
