So i'm going to be 19 in 3 months, so i think i better start driving i think.

So what's the best way to do it?

Intensive course? - How much are these normally?

Normal driving lessons? - How much are these normally?

How many lessons does the average person have normally?

Thanks,

Andy :)

I passed mine with around 40 hours of lessons. Just an hour or two a week and it cost me £18 at 1st then went up to £20 in the end.

ask in motors, plenty in there who can help, loads of new learners and recently passed :]

(*cough* motors forum *cough*)

Stick to a normal lessons. IIRC, £20-30 an hour depending where you live (the AA have a quote thing on their website saying how much they are). Average is about 40hours, iirc. Some people will tell you they did it in 3 lessons, others take hundreds. Doesn't matter really, we all have to reach the same standard.

I am taking my test on thursday for the first time, i didnt start to learn until december and i have had 15 lessons since then, i have tried to get one a week in but sometimes i couldnt, i have paid £20/lesson which isnt the cheapest but I was recommended the guy from a few people so I am willing to pay the money.

Learning takes time and IMO you are better off to take regular lessons and learn slowly. I was at an advantage I suppose as I had previously been on the roads for 18 months so knew how the roads work so all I have had to learn is how to control a car, and obviously the diferences between 2 and 4 wheels.

Is the first lesson scary  ? lol

What normally happens on the first lesson?

I've had motorbike road experience before so should be ok....I hope :D lol

Usually you dont even get on a main road for your first lesson, my first lesson was in the winter and it was night time, i was taken down a NSL road with no lights and did about 8 miles of driving.

Others dont even get to sit in the seat, depends totally on the person. I was a bit nervous for my first lesson but I soon overcame that :)

Did he say which birthday? :p

:D

First lesson depends on you and depends on the instructor. Most will take you onto a quiet carpark or something and show you the controls, others will get you straight out driving on the road.

And yes, I was bricking it :D No need to though really, was great fun.

Average is 45

45 does seem really high, I did mine in 15 lessons as did a lot of people I know, some were maybe around the 20 mark, but not close to 45. Maybe it's the instructors trying to bleed more money from unsuspecting learners.

Most lessons cost around the £15-20 per hour mark so having 45 lessons is going to cost you Just under £700! Seems a bit excessive to me when it can be easily done in half that.

Try and get one lesson per week and if possible get someone to take you out driving, get you used to driving on the roads.

45 lessons seems very high to me, I do know a couple of people (both girls :p ) that had hundreds and I guess people like them cloud the average stat quite a bit.

Most people I know had 10-20

Other thing to affect it was waiting lists, I was having 2 hours a week waiting for my tests.

think it was about 20-25 for me i cant remember... was £16 a lesson.. or £140 for a block of 10 up here.. which seems to be around the normal price up here...

bsm are wanting about £20 tho... day light robbery if you ask me..
