Right,

Im planning on doing a trip to the netherlands by car preety soon. Im 17 years old, witha full GB Driving License. Am i legally allowed to do this?

You do have to be 18 to drive in france, and no you don't get away with it because you have a UK licence.
 
Tis daft that you can drive at 17 here when it's 18 for most of Europe, if not all. I did hear they were discussing raising the age to 18 to fall in line but I can't see it happening.

If it were up to me I'd raise the age for driving to 21 for everyone. Would save a hell of a lot of lives and carnage on the roads. (/me hides)

I bet you wouldn't have had the same view at the age of 17!
 
Agreed. I think it's all about handing people responsibility. I'm sure if I had started driving at 18 rather than 17, it would have made no difference - the same stupid things would have occured, just a year later.

At 20 I'm now probably only 4 times more dangerous than the average driver. Oh well :p
