What do you think of the standard of driving in the UK compared to other countries?

The topic came to me the other night when I saw some clapped out Merc going sideways at the bottom of my road here in Prague. Now I've lived here for nigh on 2 years and have witnessed more fender benders or come across more accidents in this time than the 25 years I lived in the UK.

In the whole there just seems to be a lack of observation, attention and consideration for other road users, I was walking back from the dentist last week and a guy just drove along the side of a Passat taking it's bumper off like he didn't see it despite the Passat sounding it's horn as he was approaching. The worst I've seen is a car crushed by a tram which was purely the fault of the driver, the tram had right of way and there was nothing obstructing the view of the approaching tram (you can see it coming for at least 300m).

Other things that I see on an almost daily basis are:
Not all drivers stop when you're on a crossing despite it being the law to do so (albeit a recent law). I've lost count of the times I've been half way across a crossing and a car has driven in front of me.
Double parking, it's not illegal here and it slows up the traffic.
Enter junction while their exit isn't clear, often blocking traffic and trams when the lights change.
Running red lights.

I really want to get a fun two seater like a MX5 or Elise at some point as I haven't driven since I sold my Golf when I left the UK but I'm a bit apprehensive as the standard of driving here seems so bad that I may not get many fun drives watching out for all the idiots. I'll never complain about the standard of driving back home ever again as the disparity of standards are incomparable.
