Drove an S204 and Spec C this afternoon!

how can such a comprehensive comparison be written up after one test drive?

You cant really, its a case of try do the best with the amount of time I had. But Ive driven a lot of cars and it only takes a few minutes time in the drivers seat to get a good feel of a car.

What takes time is finding a cars limits.

I sent 20ish minutes in each car, Ive written how I found them and how they initially imressed me or in some cases did not.

1.2s off 60-100 in 4th gear just from an exhaust?

Sounds a bit optimistic to me.

people said the same about the 30bhp increase milltek claim for the exhaust too.

Personally, i know Andy is one of the first to admit if he's bought something that doesnt live up to his standards.

I dont find it that hard to believe that a tuned (remember the MR FQ models are tuned by ralliart UK on import, they leave mitsubishi japan with a different spec to what they are sold in) evo can benefit from a 3.0 inch free flowing exhaust to the tune of about 30bhp. Especially if they heavily restricted the standard item for euro emissions levels.

30hp won't drop a 60-100 time that much though.

Its a car not a computer, unfortunately it seems a lot of the time he gets it confused with 3Dmark .

Stop been a complete ass, do you really think I get confused with 3D Mark, it that kind of comment that makes me think your an idiot and I actually know your not.

Fact is I know the car is faster, its also evidently faster on the same road using a racelogic meter, a £400 device used by many and accurate within 0.1s, yes temperature, road conditions could effect this too. Note I said in 4th gear on my 60-100 times, if you read my post you will find the turbo is spooling earlier, so I am not only making more power but power is coming on earlier.

I intend on getting the car rolling roaded simply out of curosity by Powerstation at some point just to see the difference, though thats not 100% concrete because Powerstations rollers could have been re-calibrated since my last visit.

To answer no I am not getting confused with 3D Mark, so get over yourself, your pathetic comments are not appreciated.

It always seems to be about talking about times and numbers though. I'm sorry but I dont believe the sort of claim you are making from an exhaust.

Personally I think the fact it was 10C cooler will have a much bigger effect, but you seem to have ignored every variable other than the exhaust in you comparison.

Why do I need to 'get over myself'?

Rather simple really, "its a car, not a computer" and "he seems to get confused with 3D Mark"

I personally think your sarcasm stinks and your sarcastic comments at times stink as well, you come across like you have a chip on your shoulder.

Why could you not post in this thread saying "Gibbo I think the claim of 1.2s faster is a bit OTT, can you explain your testing please".

Thats called being polite and having manners Simon, but instead you seem to have a chip on your shoulder and come out with sarcastic remarks.

Also you say all were talking about is times and numbers, can you please tell me what else we should be talking about then when it comes to fitting an exhaust, car performance in general, last time I checked cars are based on horsepower, acceleration figures, these are all times and numbers.

Where I agree is the fact it was 10c cooler will help, but lets be realistic the majority of the extra performance will come from the extra mid-range torque, the extra power and the fact its spooling earlier.

I too rely not on numbers, but upon gut instinct. I could feel the bhp difference when I put the spoiler on my mums 1.2 Corsa life, I don't need figures or stats to tell me that I know I am going at least 10% faster with it on.

Well the butt dyno has definetely witnessed an improvement for sure. :)

Ok maybe my reply was a little short.

I think a power plot before and after on the same day is the best way of claiming benefits in an as controlled environment as you can get. Times on different days with the inherent accuracies (atmosphere, road incline, surface grip, tyre pressure etc etc) need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I could put some of that salt on my shoulder chip too :p It just seems it's a constant brag about how fast your cars are/were when I thought I was reading a thread about the 2 Subarus you drove.
