DSLR Newbie

Looks like decent high ISO performance.

I was reading today that the D3100's ISO3200 performance was comparable to the quality on a camera phone! I think it was Ken Rockwell that said that. I'll take his views with a pinch of salt next time! :)

Then why are your exposures all over the shop?

As you increase the ISO the overall brightness of the image is increasing - you can see it more noticeably on the label of the bottle. That shouldn't be happening if all you are doing is upping the ISO in-camera.

Could be shooting (him or camera) +an extra 3rd or so (12800 on most cameras actually works out as 8000-9000 anyway.)
