I have W7 64bit installed on a mirrored RAID.
I would like to install W8 on a new Samsung 840 Pro and be able to dual boot.

I have done some reading but all the walk throughs use existing HD's.
The MB is an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 and I'm unsure about changing the SATA setting to AHCI and how that will affect the RAID.
I would appreciate some guidance please!

You don't need to change from RAID to AHCI.

You should just need to connect the SSD and install Windows 8 onto it. Leave the existing array in place and it should update the boot loader to give you the startup options you need. As with all such things make sure you have anything important backed up first.

That seems far too straight forward :D
Everything is backed up so I'll take the plunge.
Many thanks for the quick reply!

Installation of W8 seems to have gone OK but there is no boot option menu at start up.
I did see the boot menu screen flicker briefly during installation but that was it!
In Disk Management my original RAID is Disk 0
The SSD is Disk 1 - Partition 1 is the System Reserved and is marked Active; Partition 2 is the W8 installation.

Whats happened?
