this is a dual core so it will output hotter
didnt you get a new cpu cooler with your opty
and did you clean the cpu cooler and apply new thermal paste

If you got an OEM opty and re-used an A64 heatsink then those temps are fine. Make sure you cleaned the old goop off the heatsink and applied fresh stuff.

lol

ok

had an arctic cooler that broke

so have been using the opty fan with the 3700

uninstalled the 3700 and am now using the opty stock fan with the opty

make sense?? ;)

anyway

didnt clean the crap off the fan so mebbes thats it

cheers for the replies

appreciate it :)

Not clearing the crap off will be exactly that. The heat of use damages the stuff so that when you break the contact between heatsink and CPU it will never settle in and mould to the gaps properly again.

ok

cleaned the crap off

reinstalled it

is 27 and 35 idle

tried prime at stock

goes max 56 which is a little to high for my liking

but a definate improvement

u think a better cooler will make a huge diff??

could do, if you give it a good clean (i suggest using isopropanol) and get something like a tuniq tower probably see a fair bit of difference

yeah i cleaned it with akasa tim clean

and applied a tiny bit of arctic silver etc etc

does it take time for that to settle and make a diff??

again

cheers for the replies appreciate it

I think your being too hard on the stock cooler. 56c load is not any where near a bad temperature for a dual core opty. If you went for a better cooler you might expect a drop to <50c load but only just under I reckon.

ok

got me arctic cooler gonna install it now

quick question

after cleaning the cpu do i need to reapply thermal paste or can i just leave it with the stuff on the bottom of the fan??

installed it

huge diff

priming atm @ stock

no huge jumps in temp

cheers for all the help

:)

priming at 2.8 @ 1.376v temps are 44 and 53 not too bad i guess, huge improvement

*jedit update
