Thanks in advance for help. I havent posted here for a long time, but this issue has really got me stumped.

I have recently purchased a dual esata enclosure [link]

And a startech.com esta dual port esta PCIe Card [link]

It includes 2 1.5 tb hds [link] to manage my data and backup etc

Setup:Windows 7
Enclosure
1 x 1.5 tb drive
1 x 1 tb drive
2 external USB 2 drives for backup (1x1.5tb & 1x 1tb)

for the initial setup i added the 2 1.5tb drives to the enclosure so i could format and set them up, they where both given Y & Z drive letters so not to conflict and they worked fine, i could add data and they were seen from windows. I have set the Enclosure to JBOD mode so i can use the hard drives independently, and they should show as 2 drives in windows.

I had major issues on the enclosure setting the jbod, due to the back to front documentation on the dip switches, (back to front) but after speaking with Startech.com’s support that solved it, and both of my drives showed up.

I then decided to move the 2nd 1.5tb drive to the usb (which is a esata / usb2 ) enclosure, as this was a backup drive and move the 1tb drive into HD slot 2 on the external esata controller.

Yesterday i booted windows 7 and both drives were active, and windows had no problems, i then restarted everything and now i can only see HD2 in the esata enclosure (the 1tb), it will only show if the HD1 hd is in also in the enclosure, both have link lights and esata connection. Even if i hit the SYS reset button i don’t get to see the both the drives in windows, even if i go to into windows drive management and rescan.

The other external Drive (the 1.5tb backup drive) will not show on esata either... if i switch it to USB its fine....

This was working so something is wrong somewhere, i just cannot fathom it out
