Dual Monitor Setups

Yes - puts the taskbar across both screens... i.e. apps on screen 2 show up on screen 2 taskbar... apps on screen 1 show up on screen 1. It allows you to easily stretch an app across both screens and flip apps between screens also (without dragging). You can also do some stuff with wallpapers, which isn't important on the productivity side, but it's a nice feature.

I did have dual monitors until I gave my PC to my brother, I find it excellent for multitasking and productivity it's so easy to multitask!

Never personally used ultramon or the others usually just alt tab.

at work yes, but not at home. i did have two monitors at home for quite a while, but i found it was more of an excuse to have loads of stuff open, rather than the needs for extra screen space. These days a single 24" is more than enough space for anything i need to do at home.

At work, i use a laptop and a 22" 1680x1050 screen. just about right for me :)

I have 3 screens, normally only have 2 of them on, so much easier to work on 2 instead of alt tabing every 10 seconds.

The third I use if I'm doing some studying with virtual machines it's nice to have a monitor for each machine, it's a lot less confusing.

Multi tasking in general is pretty hard to do, you cant think of two complex things at one time without limiting your ability to do both. Having two monitors isnt about multitasking, it allows you to do things that you would either take longer to do without 2 monitors, or it allows you to have a reference book available all the time etc.

i have 2 monitors and it helps so much. i've got a 24 widescree and 21 widescreen. i split small video, website visitor monitor, firefox on the 24, then notepad++ (with 2 files in view), email and winamp on the 21 inch.

this allows me to quickly view everthing i need and not lose my track of thought whilst i try to find the app i need.

So it's not a fallacy then... Just under certain circumstances.

Having more than one monitor obviously does not allow you to carry out more thinking but it allows you to interact physically with your computer more effectively.

Rolleyes all you want.. there are next to no tasks that can be completed on a computer that do not require cognitive thinking. Even then, you cannot do more than one thing at once. Period. Multitasking is a fallacy.

Did you even bother to read the links in those search results? Thought not.

Yeah, I dont think that I would class dual monitors as anything related to multi tasking. Just makes window management easier and allows you a faster workflow.

Have dual screens at work. (tri if you count the laptop as third one).

At home i will have dual screens when i finish my new PC. (Parts have arrivied and it will build when i get back home.)

Makes work so much easier. I can have HMI programming on one and PLC on other.
