Hi Guys

Available to pre order from today, the long awaited follow up to our best selling mechanical keyboard ever, the Ducky Shine 3.

Alongside all of the features that make the Shine 3 a best seller, the Shine 4 builds on this solid groundwork of excellent build quality and product reliability.
The Ducky DK1408SD Shine 4 is drastically different from the Shine 3 in case design and appearance and includes the Ducky dual LED technology. Put simply, this is the most advanced board Ducky have ever put out there.

Features:
Slim Modern Look -Ducky Shine 4 brings you a great mechanical keyboard with a modern understated look. A subtle hairline finish adds a bit of texture to the keyboard and complements the new look.
Removable Feet - A solid feeling pair of rubber feet are installed for the user who prefer higher angles on their keyboard. They are easily removable with a twist for users who prefer typing on low incline keyboards.
Genuine Cherry MX switches. Shine 4 is available in different switches to suit different preferences.
• Dual color LED technology - Dual color LEDs are packed into the familiar 3mm package. With Ducky's color mixing technology, you can create a wide variety of shades for stunning backlighting effects.
Durable dual layer PCB design - Dual layer PCB is more durable and reliable than single sided PCB. This will give longer life expectancy as well as signal stability of the keyboard functions. Combined with a steel backplate, dual layer PCBs will give the user extra solid feel with each keystroke.
Powered by ARM M3 MCU - Ducky Shine 4 is powered by an ARM M3 micro-controller. This powerful controller allows advanced functions as well as stunning backlighting effects.
USB N-Key Rollover - Under USB, the Ducky Shine 4 can handle any number of simultaneous key presses. You can use the keyboard confidently in any situations knowing that there will never be ghosting or key blocking issue.
1000HZ Report Rate - Ducky Shine 4 uses the fastest rate available under the USB interface, and updates the keyboard's status to the computer every 1 millisecond. This minimize the delay from when the keys are pressed and signal received by your computer.
USB Repeat Acceleration - Ducky brings adjustable repeat rate and repeat delay to USB keyboards. You can fine tune the repeat rate and repeat delay for gaming or your specific applications.

Backlighting Effects:
100% Full Backlight Mode - All the individual keys are backlit. This mode allows you to change the backlight's color and brightness to your preference.
Breathing Mode - Keyboard's backlight rhythmically fade in and out creating a calm and tranquil backlighting effect.
Color Cycling Mode - The backlight color will slowly cycle through the colors available with the dual color LEDs.
Wave Mode - This is wave backlighting effect with a twist. Dual color LEDs gives this mode new life with plethora of colors highlighting the wave as it glides through the keyboard
Snake Marquee Mode - Watch as the Snake snakes its way through the keyboard.
Raindrop Mode - Each LED will randomly generate a color and fade out at a randomized interval.
Reactive Mode - Ducky's innovative backlighting effect. Individual key lights up with every single key press with user adjustable color.
Reactive Mode Advanced - Generates a randomized color with each keypress.
Ripple Mode - A wave of light will rush out with each key press, like a water drop into a pond.
Aurora Mode - Beams of light shoot out from the key and fly to the left and right then disappears
LED Zone Customization Mode - This mode provides 2 sets of user customizable memory for storing whichever key you want to light up and the color of the backlight. These zones are independent of other backlight modes and can be used concurrently.

So what actually makes this better than my shine 3? Looks like only thing is the dual LED? And a redesigned bottom with build instands.

I'll keep my TKL Shine 3 for a bit, until I know the differences and the price has dropped.

Prices on Ducky boards dont tend to drop until then end of their life cycle.

The differences are as follows:
  • ARM M3 MCU
  • 1000HZ Report Rate
  • Removable Feet
  • Dual Layer PCB
  • Dual Colour LED technology
  • New Lighting Effects

I'm glad they decided to not add that stupid huge wheel.

me too. It was nice that they tried to do something unique, but really the final design shine 4 looks much better imo.

no white back lit versions :(

they are focussing on the dual LED. Red and blue backlights are by far and away the most popular sales wise for us so it makes sense for them to include both in one board whilst they cant offer full RGB.

I have been using an RGB for the past few days to test it out.
I am back on my Ducky now.

Is there a reason they don't offer full RGB? WHat makes the Ducky so great to use? I've never tried one myself, but I keep hearing such great things.

Not to correct you but the DS3 also had a Dual Layer PCB

not at all. the PCB on the 4 is better as it has more features essentially.

essentially this,
MXCherry has a deal with Corsair stopping any other maker using RGB lights with their switches.

but also, RGB switches are in massive constraint. Corsair massively underestimated worldwide demand and are nowhere near fulfilling orders on the product.

I have a K70 on my desk. it was there for 35 minutes before i was back typing on my ducky. The angle, layout, feel and key spacing is far better imho. dont get me wrong, a K70 isnt a bad board, i just didnt like the RGB version. they keycaps felt odd somehow. difficult to explain but I put it down to the keycaps feeling noticeably cheaper than my DS3.

Got a Filco Majestouch myself. I suggest everyone take a look as it it an amazing board. I could knock out Mike Tyson with it.

Brilliant boards, and whilst build quality is easily on par with Ducky, they do lack a lot of features that a Ducky offers.

I moved from a Majestouch Ninja over to a Ducky Mini and honestly, it isnt even on the same level.

How many "features" does a keyboard need? As long as it's built to last and is a joy to use, what more do you need?

Want a built in screen to play legend of Zelda on?

Or 18 USB ports?

a full size majestouch is £126.00
a DS4 is £23.99 more for a dual LED backlit keyboard with removable USB and a more advanced PCB. there isn't much to argue about here.

you're championing an old board that now represents 'not brilliant' value for money in a market where for a few quid more you can get something far more advanced.

The Shine 4 Is in stock tomorrow guys, don't miss out.

Lame! RGB LED's have been around much longer than Corsair so totally sucks they're stopping others using them with MX switches. Big oversight from Cherry IMO!

NKRO is much more of a feature for gaming than USB ports, not to mention the quality, speed and feedback you get from an MX switch. There's plenty of good rubber dome boards out there, but they can't compete with mechanicals!

Think I'll stick with my DS3. I bloody love it :)

I'm torn! I've got a Zero, '78 (S2) and Yellow (S3)... Can't really justify a S4 too! :eek::D

The way the switch is done is different they get the first year as they paid for the production line at the cherry factory! Somewhere around $4,000,000 I think.

Can someone tell me what difference there is between the blue, black and clear o-rings for the Cherry MX keyboards? Which is best for a brown?

blue is harder rubber

black is softer

clear is the same as the black ones but clear [obviously] which is better for use with LED backlit boards.
