God damn this crap thing is annoying me!!!

Ok so this laptop has vista on. It came with 2 other partitions. So we got c:vista and D: backup

ok d: was 50g so i shrank it by 14Gb and made that E:

I then installed xp pro to E:, and then noticed it wasn't showing vista as a boot option, so i ran a repair using the vista dvd and now vista works but xp wont.

Basically its not showing a boot list when i boot up the piece of crap.

I dont get it?? cus it works fine with my netbook, i have vista and xp pro on same HDD under different partitions!! WTF

The only thing i can think of is my HDD is IDE (ithink) and his is SATA.

best way to do it..

format the drive

partition it like this..

partition 1, 20gb for XP
partition 2, 30gb for Vista
partition 3, the rest....

on partition 3, Create, x:\Vista\Program Files and x:\XP\Program Files (any that can be shared, just use X:\Program Files

install XP first to C:\
reboot with Vista dvd in, install to 2nd partition

you'll have a boot menu setup by Vista for both os

That link i posted has a program that creates the boot menu. Turns out if vista is pre installed and you install xp, they both overwrite each others boot.ini
