Dumb question, but I'm confused?

Can anyone explain why in my Vista 64bit install do I have the below

C:\Program Files (x86)

and

C:\Program Files

Which is the correct location for me to install my programs under? :confused:

I think that would depend if they're 32-bit programmes (which go into the x86 folder) and or 64-bit efforts, which of course go in the other folder.

I'm not sure if it's set in stone that way for all programmes, in fact I know it's not as I have some 32-bit apps in other folders than that one.

By default everything wants to go to the (86x) as far as I have seen?

Pants that means I may have to install everything again!

Let Vista choose which folder to install to.

It will automatically put x86 programs into C:\Program Files (x86) and x64 programs into C:\Program Files.

I doesn't make any difference anyway. Not sure why they bothered adding the extra folder on x64

I think it's good, shows you easily which programs are 64/32bit.
