Is it just me or does everyone have the same problem with their computer workspace?

The amount of dust that accumulates on my computer, my monitor and my external drives is stupid. I dust it, then a day later there is a layer of dust covering them. Is it cause they are electrical and the dust is attracted to the static?

spraying deoderant in the same room as your pc doesnt help, thats what i found anyway, antiperspirent is the worst, clogs up the heatsink fins and filters need cleaning far more often than they should

Aye dust is a problem near computers, mainly because the fans suck in the air around them.

A lot of older cases used to come with filters to fit around the fans that sucked air in. So you just had to clean your filter everynow and again.

Hovering the house more than bi-annually will help mate. :D

My machines get the compressed air treatment about once a month. Seems to do the trick.

Holy crap have you bought a compressor too ? A can of compressed air does like maybe 2 pcs for me. Can get pricey.

Note when attempting this please remember to also hover the house.

My house gets hovered ever week (when the mrs is around). Talking of which I think I better hire a polish maid as its been a good 2 weeks now

Yup, the only problem with those is they usually cut airflow quite a lot.

I repaired a PC recently that had about 2 inches of thick dust in the bottom of the case, and the heatsink was completely jammed, awful. I usually use compressed air, but this was so bad I got the dyson out :D looking at the blokes house it wasn't a really big shock ;)

We have wooden floors and this means that the dust has nothing to stick to unlike carpeted houses so my PC seems to suck all the dust into my study :(

Compressed air is great and is always useful for quick clean ( do mine about 4 -8 times a month)

I also found hovering around the electrical items once a week when I do my bedroom tends to help a lot as it sucks away all the dust rather than just redispersing it elsewhere.

You are joking right? How can you live in a house that gets hoovered once a week. Thats dirty.. Ours gets cleaned everyday and hoovered too. Only takes 30 minutes of our time. Plus you get to relax in a clean house..

Ah or did I read you post wrong? :o

Actually, you don't have to be so pompous about this.

In my house we have to hoover at least once a day as we have dark carpets and everything shows up. Plus, horror of horrors, we wear our shoes inside.

However at my inlaws place, they hoover once a week, but have light carpets and wooden floors, but also do NOT allow shoes anywhere past a 2m radius of the front door lol. There house seems cleaner than mine :(

hmph, well there you go!
