I've been doing my first bit of video editing and I've just come a question that I can't find (well I'm using Windows Movie Maker atm)

I am making a compilation of video clips (that I've taken myself) and I would like to make a menu at the start of the DVD that will take me to various sections of the movie (like bookmarks - scene selection) It is possible to do this from within movie maker? Does each 'scene' have to be mastered seperately or can I make the movie as one and put markers for each 'scene'?

Hope you can help

Thanks in advance

I think Movie Maker is a bit too basic for this. I found a guide on the MS website and that directs yo to another program for building a menu. MS Guide

If it's just a one off thing you're doing try one of the many shareware menu maker programs.

For regular use Pinnacle Studio or Ulead Video Studio certainly can do what you want and are intuitive to use.

They're not expensive either unless you want the latest version, Pinnacle Studio 9 can be had for £10 if you look on the well known online retailers.

they way i would do it would be to make your video as one constant file.

then id use a seperate program like tmpgenc dvd author to produce the menu system and create chapter points where the clip changes to the next.

OK cheers for the replies guys - so far I've done some vidoe editing in MM2 and I'm plying with a menu maker in NeroVisionExpress - and that does chapters just like you say bk - thou it is still only, I'm on the hunt for a moving scene menu system if possible
