I'm looking for input from you fellow 20WGX2 users, I've only watched one film on it yet, a pretty old one, Dark City, I'm not sure if its because its an old film and the screen is showing up all its warts, but i had to turn the brightness down to almost 0% for it to look how it should, what settings do you lads usually use for DVD viewing?

Other settings, where 'movie mode' and advanced DV mode on.

Loving the panel btw:D

I don't have a WGX2, but I do know that most LCD screens do tend to show all the imperfections of a movie - especially if the video bit rate is low. Plus, a lot of LCD's contrast levels are not quite up to the perfected standard of CRT screens yet for dark/black scenes in movies.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The only way you will see a improvement is to find a better source of the film, e.g. a HD version of the film whenever it comes out.

The 20WGX2 has a Movie setting if you can't be harrised to set up your contrast etc, i guess you've tried that.

I havent had any issues, what was *** source of the film, was it an actual dvd, or a *ahem* rip??

No, its legal;)

Yeah, have since tried a few more recent films, i think its what secret window said, its an older film, and this panel shows all its warts tbh.

Was watching day after tomorrow on it last night and it looks great, although I still turn it down to about 20% brightness, 60% is about right for normal use.

Haven't played with contrast though ..
