want to output a signal from a dvi graphics card to an lcd tv that doesnt have component....it has s-video, scart and composite..

i thought it would be easy to find a dvi to composite cable but seems you need a box to convert the signal...is that right?...isnt there any easy way to do this?

does your g-card not have an s-video/composite out on it anyway??

It probably will do.

Best bet is to use the S-Video since:

Component > Scart > S-Video > Composite

its a vivo 9-pin connection on a 7800 gtx..if i use that does it still give the dual display capability?..i want to use it to output videos (to lcd tv) while i work on the other desktop (computer monitor)..

You really want to use composite? urgh.. I would return the LCD, if it doesn't even have VGA you're stuck with s-video. Possible you could use VGA-SCART RGB, heard it's possible.

ok..now i have the lcd tv setup via vivo to s-video...

trouble is the tv is 1280x780 but windows will only let me take the resolution on the second tv to 1024x780

anyway to sort that out?

S-video is limited in resolution anyway.
Buy a new TV, ideally with DVI, or HDMI (with PC support 1:1) or VGA.

S-video is not hd. The best it can do is 720x576i. I don't see how the tv can be 1280x720 but have no hd connections at all, you must be missing something here.
