So my computer keeps BSODing when playing games. It does it a LOT on l4d2, and also on dragon age origins.
I've done a fresh install of windows, using the new 9.12 drivers, but the BSODs still happen.

The BSODs keep mentioning dxdiag.sys, although most of the time the computer just crashes without a BSOD.
Crashes still happen if I lower my overclock, and the crashes only happen in game. I've ruled out overheating too.

RAM is 3 x corsair 2048mb, 1600mhz, 8-8-8-24.
Overclock currently at 3.51ghz.

Here's a run off from dxdiag of my specs:

Any clues? :D

Is this a new build or something that was working, but now doesn't?

What power supply are you using?
What was the last thing you did to change your system? (what hardware/software has been installed)?

Is there any difference if you disable crossfire?

its an old build, BSODs were very rare playing l4d1. with l4d2 its up to maybe 1-2 a day.
only thing thats changed is updated catalyst drivers, but the last set of drivers that didnt have these problems would have been a good year or two ago. fresh install of windows going straight to 9.12 drivers and it still happens.

PSU is 1000w zalman

i havent tried to disable crossfire yet, will do that now and test it over the next few days, cheers

wow just disabled xfire/CatAI and now the game crashes straight to desktop,
ah jesus, now the game crashes to desktop as soon as i load up. changed it back to enabled CatAI and the problem persists.

Did you try updating DX?

I ran the 9.11s all month and am currently running the 9.12 hotfix with no issues on a 4870x2. I don't play loads of L4D2 but have played through whole levels a few times, campaign and versus, with no issues.

DxDiag Version: 6.00.6001.18000 32bit Unicode

Mine...

DxDiag Version: 6.01.7100.0000 32bit Unicode

ok crashes still happen, the problem is not isolated to catalyst drivers or directx versions, which makes me think it must be a hardware fault.
dxgkrnl.sys in BSODs, making me think graphics card, but could it be motherboard/memory?

whats a reliable length of time to stress test furmark?
just tried it on extreme heat for 10 mins and stable, temps maxed at 67C

memtest shows no memory errors

--------------------------------------------

im thinking its the RAM, or a faulty DIMM slot... gonna run some more mem tests on each stick and each slot.

Try clocking the memory a good bit lower (just for testing at the moment) and see if that helps.

[edit] your system ram that is, if that helps try upping the juice being given to it. memtest86 it.
