Prove otherwise lol. They haven't been around long enough to see the full lifecycle yet and how things will play out long-term...

Oh dear... try harder.

https://insideevs.com/news/339110/highest-mileage-tesla-now-has-over-420000-miles/

"Naturally, issues like battery degradation and electric motor fatigue may appear with higher mileage vehicles. But that is easily serviceable and judging by the recent examples, even with such, high-mileage Tesla vehicles, the battery is still offering over 80% of its original capacity. The above list may be topped off by two Tesla Model S', but the Model X owners are slowly crawling for the top spots.

That's really a no surprise. Recently, one company racked up 300,00 miles on their Tesla in just two years, putting their Model X to the ultimate test. After two years of what can only be described as ultimate overutilization, the battery pack of that particular vehicle lost only 12.6% of its original capacity. Additionally, Tesloop - the owner of that Model X - has noticed that their 2016 Model X battery degradation has essentially plateaued after about 9 months."

But it's still only 2 years old. When manufacturers test any car they hammer miles on it like that. See how they are in 12 years time and also the money spend to keep them going.

In the face of evidence provided you still have to deny, deny, deny. A car that has done over 400,000 miles with 20% degradation to the battery pack, and you are complaining. If you think the chemistry of the pack will degrade more significantly with less use over a longer period then you need to check how the packs work.

It will degrade with age, not just use.

EVERYTHING - degrades with age. What other pointless things would you like to say, to make your point even less valid?

But the difference is you can't just to go ebay and buy used batteries. You'll always have to buy brand new which is $$$$$

How is the original Tesla Roaster doing all these years later? :D There are plenty of old Priuses with knackered batteries too.

Sure you can buy almost anything on ebay, it doesn't mean it will be sensibly priced.

Try and find a battery pack for the price of the average engine...

Again altering your argument, once proven wrong.

I'm not sure why you are comparing a fuel source/storage to a propulsion device either. You can even get that right. The correct comparison would be a fuel tank to a battery pack, and an engine to a motor. ;)

A fuel tank vs a battery pack...

Ok then £11k vs £40 :D

A motor is still around the price of a decent engine or more (each).

Ok, ok you win. BEV's are utter **** and a complete waste of time, the batteries last 30 seconds, and go 15 miles in the cold, they cost a fortune and you need to replace them at least once a week.

Now jog on to another thread.

What car needs a £10k purchase after 10years?
Not many lol

I would expect the running costs of any car that is of equal performance to a Tesla model S to cost far more than £10k to run over ten years. Probably closer to double that figure.

Thinking about one of these for the missus, her work offer no cost charges she can charge it there, we are currently with Tilsun who are offering the Golf as well.

I've pre wired our new extension for a 7kw charger direct to the consumer unit. Just need to buy the end, any idea what to buy?

Found this deal which looks to be the best lease deal on all electric car ever. I'm very close to pulling the trigger.

https://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing.../99kw-e-golf-35kwh-5dr-auto/3592328/55375040/

£1944 up front then 23 payments of £216 per month. Total cost £6912. 10k miles per annum.
It's in stock?
Just before closing the deal for the Mercedes A Class, some dealer at whatcar was offering a pretty good deal with the A250, but the 4 months, and potential for delays) put me off.
Just asking as most of the electric cars have long waiting lists.
