Can anyone recommend a supplier for an E1/T1 supplier for a serviced office? My work needs to have this connection for video conferencing as apparently an ADSL Max connection isn't up to the job. I take it E1 is 2Mbps up and down? Any information on this type of connection would be appreciated.

Thanks

There are many companies who will sell you an E1 although most will be resellers as opposed to network operators. You are correct that it is a fully sychronous connection and has no contention.
The biggest issue will be cost. a lot of suppliers are moving away from supplying E1's as they require a lot of often legacy hardware and it is far cheaper to supply ethernet based products. An E1 requires dedicated CPE and router whereas an ethernet product can connect directly to a switch or firewall.
You may be better opting for a LES10 from BT or an alternative like COLT as this may be cheaper and cost effective long term. The other decisive factor is the office location. If you are in a major city then you will have more choice and better pricing. In London there are dozens of suppliers for example such as C&W,MCI,Cogent,COLT and of course BT.

Oh and E1= 2mb and T1 (US equivalant) is 1.5mb

Thanks guys I will look into this. I take it these are leased lines? SDSL sounds much cheaper although contention would be my concern, unless it's available uncontended?

SDSL is available uncontended but I'd never consider it an alternative to an E1. To be honest we (I work for an ISP) are moving towards ethernet circuits entirely now, our new MPLS core hardware doesn't take E1 links directly so we have to dedicate a 7204 to E1 connections which is a bit of a waste.

Also, LES10 is fine but it's only available over short distances. If you want between cities then you'll need to get an ethernet circuit from a provider (who may well use LES circuits as the tails, we do when necessary)
