E39 5-Series Price Variation?

The bottom one is an Agean Blue limited edition with leather, automatic box and being sold by a dealer.

The top one has cloth/alcantara seats and is being sold from some random blokes garden who has yet to grasp full command of the English language and believes he has an 'M POWER aero pack'. It's also been for sale for MONTHS (Seen it loads before) so something must be putting everyone who views it off..

Buying an E39 is like playing Russian Roulette, there are many more cars similar to the top one than the bottom one and these really make valuing them hard :(

Both, however, have front windscreens which of course puts them one up on mine.

Or photoshop! :D

Appears to be a looker from the outside, but that interior combo mingy-mings. Steering wheel looks well abused, so a lot of its miles are most likely round town/short distance with a lot of low speed turns.

Certainly worth a look at, but I'll wager it isn't as good as the pics let on.

It's only been up a day :/

Yes, it isn't worth £5k, but I don't think that is why it hasn't sold yet ;)

It hasnt, its been around a while hence the bit at the end :)

Price reduced again
Car will go onto ebay, if no interest in the next 5 days.
Need the space!!

Looks very nice. Good ones of these are so hard to find these days I wouldn't be too bothered about whether its technically worth 500 quid or less, if you want a nice E39 and you've got 5 grand and this one is as good as it looks go for it because you just don't know when the next one without 900 previous owners from Birmingham might come along.

Few points of note:

a) It's next service is a £350 Inspection II
b) Despite the low mileage it's 9 years old. It is therefore almost certainly due a suspension refresh at some point and will need new dampers and possibly new arms etc to feel as good as it did when it was new
c) It has a multi information display and no high OBC. This is unusual and means its either a single slot CD player or somebody has retrofitted the MID which is rare as it's not straightforward and has little benefit to anyone who isn't anally retentive like myself.
d) That steering wheel is super shiney. Make sure you get the mileage verified although I guess thats what 9 years of round-town wheel twirling can do.

It is a shame the owner has ruined the BMW Service History by taking it to an independant for the sake of an oil service which is what, a hundred quid.

cheers, Ill go take a look on Sunday.

Yep, noticed an Insp2 due in Jan, quote from my local indy is £280 +VAT so Ill factor that in.

Ill have drive over and take a look. Hes says it has had every it needed and has shed loads of paperwork so we will see if the speaks truth.....
