e46 330 Convertibles.......... Talk to me!

Good to hear I'm not the only one with these figures.

God knows how Fox manages such good MPG.

I don't normally - I average 20mpg around town.

But if you are doing a long trip and don't do 100mph it goes over 30mpg quite easily. If you do, SHOCK, the speed limit on the Motorway, it tops 35mpg.

Dont expect good fuel economy, dont think i ever averaged more than 22 and that was on a 80 mile a day commute.

How did you get 22 on a daily 80mile commute?! I get around 27 on fast A-roads which often includes overtakes and spirited driving.

I can easily get 35 on the motorway and get about 22 around town.

RE: 330's. Sound great. Go fast. Expensive to run.

My car expenses over the last 12 months are as follows:

– Insp II service (inc coolant and brake fluid) - £350
- Oil service - £90
- Front wishbone bushes - £120
- Front antiroll bar links - £40
- 2 x KDS alignments (£75 each)
- Rear trailing arm bushes - £100
- Steering lower universal joint - £80
- Oil separator valve - £170
- ARB bushes all round - £25 DIY’d
- Rear shock absorbers - £80 DIY’d
- Odd pieces - £150
- Set of tyres - £600

I've had pretty much all the common problems you can have with these cars bar the cooling system (for now!). The bushes are rubbish and wear within 30-50k miles, shocks are going at arond 70-80k, oil sepator valve is one of the main causes for oil consumption (before i got it done i was using up a litre every 800-1000 miles - i've now done 800 miles since it was changed and the car has not used a drop.).

What else do you want to know?

bmw do say a litre of oil for every 1000 miles is normal tho

Which is complete rubbish obviously. No engine that is functioning properly should be using up around 12 litres of oil a year (average mileage). Mine was using up a litre every 1000 miles - and i finally had the oil separator valve changed and low and behold - 800 miles later and the car has not used a drop.

BMW are arse covering, x30 owners are trying to convince themselves nothing is wrong with their engine.
