I just ran prime95 and used hwmonitor to check temps, bit new to core2duo's so im unsure if this is the normal range?

I wanted to overclock but im unsure after seeing this load temp, is the stock heatsink enough or do you think it's not on properly? Idle is around 38c, load 77c.

Its actually about 60 while playing a game, i know stock isn't great but for now it will have to do, would be good know what temps are common with stock? thanks

It's warm but not surprising considering you're using a stock cooler with prime95.

You may have poor contact between the CPU and HS - as the pushpin method is a pathetic system for connecting a HS to a CPU, as you can never be totally sure that it's fitted properly.

You will be better off getting a third party cooler and then fitting a bolt-thru-kit (~£8) to replace the pushpins. The Akasa and the Freezer Pro are good budget coolers - but make sure you get the Akasa AK-965 version -link - as the 'Akasa AK-876' in the link above would not be compatible.

You could still play about with some overclocking while your waiting for your new HS - just don't up the voltages. You should get a healthy clock using default voltages.
