Well ive spent the last few days tweaking and testing with my DS3 and E6600..

First off, the voltages listed are th final voltages i find my mobo needs to get stable highest clocks....

The previous owner had this chip at 3500, so naturally i wanted to get the same or higher.... well its been fun i can tell you...

To start with i set the cpu voltage to 1.45v and ram to +4 (2.2v), FSB +1 & MCH +1, RAM div set to 2.0 @ 5, 5, 5, 15.

System booted fine and passed orthos with large FFT's and with Gromacs Core.
Rebooted and set the bios to 9/388 = 3500, ram div to 2.0, ran orthos gromacs and passed 8 hours 30 mins before i stopped it and ran large fft's which failed after 3 mins.
Rebooted and set the bios to 8/388 = 3100, ram div to 2.0, ran orthos Large FFT's but this time it failed on Large FFT's.
Rebooted and set the bios to 9/378 = 3400, ram div to 2.0, ran orthos blend and passed 2.5 hours.

I decided to try more fsb's and try to find a sweet spot....

8/420 3360, ram 6, 6, 6, 18, passed 10mins orthos large FFT, then i stopped orthos...
8/423 3384, ram 6, 6, 6, 18, passed 20mins orthos large FFT, then i stopped orthos..
8/430 failed to post.
8/440 failed to post.
8/450 failed to post.

As i stated at the start, i have tried lover voltages and lower timmings but can get past post or stable in windows, but with the following im getting some results...

9/400 = 3600 loaded windows and crashed, set voltage to 1.5v and upped the mch to +2, ram at 5, 5, 5, 15 and windows loaded but rebooted running gromacs core.
Set voltage to 1.55v and so far its still running gromacs core.... but temp is reading 62 on both cores in Core Temp.... is this ok.... the bios is set to shutdown at 70, but there is now a beep comming occasionally from the mobo speaker. PC still running though :)

The ram is a none issue now as i have bought some ocz pc8500, just waiting for it to arrive next week.

Well after 10 mins orthos gromacs making the mobo speaker beep, i rebooted to see what the bios cpu temp was, and well, system would not post until i lowered the clocks ??? seam very strange that what works once, wont work again....

So im back to 9/378 till i get my ram.... damn strange, such a fussy mobo compared to all the others i have clocked over the years since the P3 days...

What cpu cooler you using please ???

Wow, 83 veiws and not a single comment ?

Well, I got 2x 1gb OCZ PC2-8500 and tried the tests again...

I still cant get stable memory overlcocks ???

Was able to boot at 8/426 but again, failed Large FFT's ??

Anyone with a DS3 have any helpful tips?

Even tried all four ram stick at 333 and got a fail, could this be a bad motherboard ?

Another Update!

Well I have now tried the F10, F11 and the new F12 bios, same results on all three, any overclock at all either wont post of fails Orthos FFT's, the few random FSB overclock that have posted and not failed FFT's, have failed to post on rebooting, thiink I have a bad motherboard. To be honest, I never liked the Intel chipsets, and now I hate them even more, I have good Ram, a good CPU and i cant even run my ram at spec, nevermind overclock the CPU

Think I will have to save up and splash out on a decent Nforce board if anyone can recommend a good one, needs to have at least 3 PCI slots, does not need to be SLI and good for high FSB.

For anyone whos interested.....

I swapped the ram from the two red slots to the two yellow slots, set cpu multi 9, set the FSB to 378 (3400), Ram set to 2.5 (1005), Option 2, and was able to log into windows, Passed Orthos Gromacs for 3 hours before i stopped it, failed Orthos Large FFT's within 27 seconds.

Ran 3D Mark 06 twice with no errors.

Rebooted and set CPU multi 8, FSB 426 (3400), ram set to 2.5 (1066), option 2, and was able to log into windows again, passed orthos Gromacs again but failed Large FFT's after 37 seconds.

Ran 3D MArk 06, then played COD2 with max details at 1280/1024 for about an hour, No problems at all, so i just have to wait to get home tonight and see if the overclock holds on cold boot.

running at 426 with mem divider at 2.0 isnt gonna overclock the memory its running at less than default so it could be the memory, have you run memtest on it ?

got the memory voltage set to recommended for the ocz ?

in the past 4 sticks of ram has caused issues, even when set on default may be the case here.

I have two sets of ram but have only used one set at a time,
1st set Crucial Ballistix PC2-5300 C3
2nd set OCZ SLI PC2-8500

The OCZ was bought of MM and is running in spec, correct voltage etc, its rated to 2.3v, 5,5,5,15 - 533 (1066), and when running at 426/8 with the ram divider set to run the ram at 1066.

From what ive read on various forums, there is a possible compatability issue between the DS3 and certain memory chip types, which both my sets seaming use.

ouch that is damn unlucky, loads of people get the ballistix recommended as its supposed to be very good memory :(

tbh if its only failing on the orthos testing i'd run it as you normally do and see if you get any issues day to day.

i had orthos failure on my overclock but no issues gaming with bf2/2142 which i've always used as an overclock stability test cos they are very picky.
