Hi everyone,

I'm new around these parts and wondered if you guys would help me out getting my E6600 past 3.1ghz stably? Heres the deal - she runs as sweet as a nut at 3.1 prime95 both cores for 6 hours with no problems. Here are my specs and settings for this clock:

* Abit AW9D-MAX with E6600 (VID 1.3175v)
* 4 x Geil 1gb PC2-6400C4 800mhz (set at 2.1v / 4-4-4-12 in BIOS)
* 8800GT 512mb
* LianLi case with 4 x fans
* WD 320gb HD

BIOS settings for 3.1ghz:

* 345x9
* RAM set 1:1 ratio
* vcore 1.3375v
* RAM 2.1v (4-4-4-12)
* MCH and PCIe: 1.51v (default is 1.50v)
* Max temps running Prime 52C.

So, having got the above settings working, I upped the FSB to 356x9 to get 3.2 and am having all kinds of stability problems (not booting, the odd blue screen, when I can boot prime95 fails within seconds). So I upped the vcore another notch and windows still would not boot.

Is it safe for me to up the MCH and PCIe settings any more? Is this safe for the video card? I'm still learning this overclocking lark, don't want to overdo anything and fry things ;)

Any ideas what I can try to get further? Thanks for any advice!

As an E6600 owner I have mine running at 3.4Ghz, 425FSB x 8.0 multi. FSB and MCH volts are +0.1, and the VCore is 1.42v (I believe). This is giving me temps at 60Degrees fully loaded. Which I am more than hppy with. I havent touched the PCIe volts/speeds at all.

Thanks for the replies. One of the problems I seem to have is that the MCH and PCIe is one setting in my BIOS (I cannot change MCH without upping the PCIe also) which is annoying. I'll try relaxing the memory settings a bit and see what happens ...

If you have the same ram as me which is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-GL

( 4 sticks of 1 gig )

Then it will run with the cpu fsb @ 400 on 1:1 with 4-4-4-12 ok as that is what it is rated to
I had some probs when i changed from 2 sticks to 4 sticks , but i did 2 things that helped

1. increase ram voltage to 2.2v ( geil rates them @ 1.9V-2.3V )
2 increased mch voltage up 2 steps from the default value ( not on that pc at so unable to check exact values , just remember it was 2 steps of an increase )

my MB is an IP35 dark raider
