EA trying to keep APB purchasers happy (possibly free stuff!)

haha, I was more interested in getting 4000 BioWare points or pre-ordering BFBC2: Vietnam for free to be honest with you, but a full refund has more than made up for that.

I only used 10/50 hours of gameplay time - shame really would've been good with all the changes the developers were talking about.

This, I believe Steam have no problem with locking out your account if you do this.

Why would a Steam account be disabled?

Check the contact e-mail address for your Steam account to see if Steam Support has contacted you regarding the reason your account was disabled - accounts may be temporarily disabled pending verification of purchase information or account ownership.

Steam Support does not automatically contact the owners of disabled accounts in most circumstances.

There is a Zero-Tolerance policy for any violations of the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Online Code of Conduct. All accounts in a user's possession for any of the following activities will be disabled:

Any fraudulent credit card use, credit card chargebacks, or Paypal chargebacks (regardless of when the transaction occurred).

It looks like they class chargebacks as fraudulent use, though. And to a extend I agree afterall you buy the game, and it instantly gets added to your account, so you can start playing right away (give or take time to download). You then issue a chargeback, but you can continue playing for however long it takes for Valve to notice the chargeback, link it to you and block the account.

Otherwise, you could probably get people just creating accounts, only to buy a game, chargeback, and stick steam in offline mode. Free singleplayer game. Making it blockable offence means they can lock that account, as well as any others owned by the user (Though how they would prove this is another matter).

Except its has nothing to go with Valve if the other company went bust.

They supplies you with APB at the time and thats as far as they go afaik. Thats why it needs to be taken up with EA as they published it, Valve just distributed it.

You can kiss your steam account goodbye then any chargebacks made to steam results in instant perma ban of their service despite if you have £1 of games or £1000 of games

I understand that, you'd obviously get people abusing it otherwise to try and get free games.

I suppose that is true, especially if EA were offering refunds if you bought it through them and a free game if you didn't. The policy is probably that only EA will give out refunds/compensation to avoid people abusing it.

It really depends on just how much he asked steam... if he took nowhere to mean "i sent a ticket and they haven't replied within 3 hours so i threw a hissy fit and rang my bank" then yeah he's ****ed. I would've expected them to respond by telling you to contact EA though as surely its there job to deal with it. But anyway, yeah his account is going bye bye.
 
I bought mine on steam too. I just gave them the APB CD Key and order confirmation from steam. They have offered me a free game from the EA store.
 
Just recieved the ability to download Dragon Age: Origins Deluxe (So people could probably push for ME2 Deluxe)

I know its not worth that much but I didn't have it and wanted it.
