Early 8600 Benchies

Well I have to admit I was right afterall! :D
Well done me!
After everyone going on about how good these cards will be from day one I sat there and said the x1950pro would still be faster ;P

It is only 3DMark results afterall but it depends on how well they can overclock also. But it looks like a rehash in speed terms of the 7900gs > gt series with Dx10 goodies thrown in for good measure and thats not really a bad thing is it?
If the price is £100 then these will sell like hot cakes, Dx10 = money from average joe customer!

Still a nice upgrade from the likes of the 7300gt and 7600gts, the ATi Mid range offering.....eventually.....could be interesting

I bet it will cost the same as a X1950XTX new... ;)

should have been 10-20% quicker than my X1900 tbh.

No one would buy them at that price, £234, the much faster 320mb 8800 GTS is less than £200 so i think the slower 8600's would be a lot less than that. :D

You do have to remember that the 8600GTS is replacing the 7900's, so it's also in competition with the X1900, but it has DX10 as well, and probably a faster clock speed. The only thing i hate is that NV are still using GDDR3. They should be on GDDR4 by now. Imagine it, a mid range card with 1.8Ghz stock memory clock speed. :D

what would be the point of the additional cost of GDDR4 when this is, as stated a budget card?
