Easter break.. Four days off... Where to go?

I just looked on lastminute.com, it's hilariously expensive? Or maybe I'm missing something.

No idea what the OP's answer is, as everywhere is either pricey or not warm enough, or both. If I were you, at this late stage, I'd probably pick a nice city in the UK that I hadn't been to, book something on laterooms, and drive there.

This.

Paying an absolute fortune to go somewhere thats usually cheap is totally sucky. The appeal of places like Lanzerotte is that they are cheap and cheerful, once you take away the cheap its hard to see the point. You certainly dont want to be paying £400+ for any flight that isn't long haul!

Changed to Birmingham departure and got it a little cheaper now. (only by about £50 mind)
So that's allowed me enough leeway to fit in a 5* hotel on the beach instead of the orrible looking 2* place near the dive shop. :D

Talk about last minute

If you're happy enough to do that then fair enough but you'd be silly not to walk into or call a local travel agent to see what last minute deals they have on offer.

Lastminute.com rarely offers any worthwhile last minute deals. Don't let their name fool you. They're just another Expedia, and often more expensive IME.

Just had a look on some of the low cost holiday sites. Put in 12th April and you get pages and pages of flights + accomodation deals in Lanzarotte for £150 per person. Put in 6th April and it's £800 minimum for the SAME product.

At prices like that surely its worth.. not bothering and going a week later? Even if you took unpaid leave from work instead of the bank holidays it'd probably be cheaper!

I'm not using any deal sites to book this, they only got me started. I have trawled the net and gone direct to the various hotels / dive resorts and air carriers.
This is pretty much how a travel agent would do it and I can't see it much cheaper than that.

But anyway..
Clearly spending ooh, an extra £150 quid on a flight because it's EASTER is going to break the bank now isn't it. It's less than two days wages FFS. and to top it off, I get paid it anyway as it's part of my holiday allowance!
I can work two Saturdays to make up the difference. Done, dusted,forgotten..
If I took a week off work unpaid it would cost me more than the flight I'm paying for now!

At the end of the day, it's Easter, everywhere puts its prices up, we've all got four days off, there is no work, the weather is ****, and if I don't go anywhere I'll just be sat here in the cold being miserable, looking out the window at the ****y weather, typing to you defeatist bunch of **** :p
Let me see...
Do this or go to another country, to a beach, in the warm, put on some shorts and go scuba diving for a few days..

The dive shop is emailing me at 22.47 tonight. THAT'S service. :D

Extra £150? A typical return flight to Lanzerotte when not booking it 30 seconds in advance because your head might implode if you dont rush away at Easter is under £100, so its really an extra £250 :p

Oh, Hai guys

:D
