Eating at your desk Do's and Don'ts?

While we're on the subject - i HATE having the residual stink of crisps etc on my hands.. let alone my keyboard lol

Oh and anyone that leaves keyboards/mice/controllers greasy after eating chips etc... NEEDS TO DIE

This is how a real man cleans his keyboard

When I was bored I stupidly decided to melt the end of a bic pen with a lighter. I got burnt, dropped it and ink splattered all across my 2 TFT monitors. Safe to say my early attempts to get it off with toilet roll made the matter much, much worse.

Luckily it came off with nail varnish remover.

Oh my god, once I found an [outrageous lie] in my keyboard. I had to [outrageous lie]. It was [not] totally hilarious.

Today at work me and a collegue got given little plastic toy things that talked about one of our latest promo's when a button is pressed.

First, the destructiveness test - does it stand up to a hand blow with a shoe? No. Next!

Second (Relevant to this thread) - can it swim? Well, we immersed one and it wouldn't die. So we "borrowed" a guys screwdriver set from his draw, took another one of these apart, and dunked the electronics. It still worked fine!

Lesson = electronic stuff doesn't always hate water. :p

Don't spill tea in your keyboard
Don't then dry keyboard in front of an electric heater and melt it, like my mate did lol.

The only time Ive had a keyboard drenched in tea was when my brother used my PC without permission. I was sat there wondering why i couldn't sign into windows for a few mins until i realised every time i pressed a certain letter two appeared on screen.

i have a habit of shovelling food into my mouth but the only thing i ever eat at the pc is cereal so obviously when milk falls off the spoon on its journey from the bowl to my mouth it causes splashback and i end up with milk stains on my keyboard and monitor. housemates refuse to believe its milk though.

Haha yup, so far we've had "Wax" and now "milk"

Anyone else? ;)

Many moons ago my room mate at uni bought a new fangled remote keyboard and mouse, wasn't cheap at the time.

He went away for a weekend, I managed to spill a pint of cider all over it. Tried everything to get it working again but it wouldn't, he came back and found that when you pressed a key it'd go nuts on screen lol.
