Ebay Advice

Once you've pulled the money out to your bank account, it's safe.

If he tries to rip you off and does a paypal scam, paypal will refund him and put your paypal account into a negative balance.

They will email you, phone you, generally nag you, they don't want to take the hit when somebody pulls a scam using their system.

Eventually they'll get bored of asking for the money and pass the account onto their "debt collectors". You should be really scared, these guys send begging letter with scary RED INK!

Don't worry about them, they are a private company with no more power to take money from you than the man in the street. They are very good at writing threatening letter (in the same way the scam private parking ticket guys operate), but that about it.

Will it get "legal"? Probably not, for it to get "legal" Paypal would need to take you to court using the small claims track. Do you really think Paypal want their business model anywhere near a court ...

Why?

He wanted to end auction to pay straightaway.

He was told i would wait 3 days to clear funds to my bank account. He agreed.

He was threatening to me.

I am only trying to find a way to not get pooed on!!

the mistake you should never make is dealing outside of ebay. if he makes a chargeback yuor done for. even if you close you paypal account paypal will send bailiffs round to your house

Go on then, how would they send bailiffs to his house? You do understand PP need to get a county court judgement against him before they can send bailiffs, right?

i dont know i have no idea. but if you owe paypal money they dont just let it go they will get it somehow

But how could i owe them money when i would have proof that the item was despatched and received by special delivery?

Update: Just checked my bank account and money now received from my paypal account so will send goods tomorrow via special delivery.

This.

However, if you were this worried about Paypal, why not just accept Bank Transfer in the first place? I can understand the buyer's problem really, it's unnecessary hassle.

I did ask the guy if he wanted to pay via BT but he said no.

Not unnecessary hassle as he agreed to waiting for the money to go to my bank account before he elected to buy the items! Told him why i wanted to do it that way and he said that was fine. Then he changed his mind 'AFTER' he paid!!

Surely waiting for PP to transfer to account is the same (albeit longer) than BT?

Seems odd to me, alarm bells would've rung at that point personally.

Well, money is in my bank now and i will send the goods off this morning. If he tries to pull a fast one and say he hasn't received them then thats his tough as i will have proof via special delivery tracking. He can try and complain to paypal, i don't care, i know he would have had the goods. I think i have covered all angles.
