Well i have just checked back on Ebay and the person who wanted me to sell it to nigeria is no longer a member!! LOL! Think that has just told me for definate that i did the right thing

With this type of scam they 'pay' into your paypal account and you send the item. Unfortunately about 1 week later the payment will bounce and you will be without item AND without payment. 
The same scam is often used with cheques and bank drafts. The bank will allow you to withdraw on the payment after around 5 days but it actually takes around 2 weeks for it to clear fully. At this stage (when the draft/cheque is found to be forged/bogus) the bank cancel the transaction are take the money back off you! again leaving you out of pocket!
ALWAYS go with your instincts. If it doesn't feel quite right DON'T do it! or at least ask us first!!!!

Well alright, thats what you get if you sell to Nigeria on ebay, especially when you get emails like the one above.
I suppose you could buy petrol off them, if idiots weren't trying to crack into the fuel lines and dropping their fag ends in it

Whats the deal with paypal echeques. I had someone pay me and it says something like 3 weeks to clear so he asks me to refund him.
At the last moment I realise that means Iam going to pay him a refund when the original payment hasnt even cleared....
So now Iam waiting for it to clear, but can it still bounce even after it clears. I read real cheques can bounce 6 months after 'clearing' if all the details on it are dodgy.
Mobile phone sales are very common terrority for scams btw, my brother had several. The highest bidder, the next highest bidder, etc. The sale price dropped 75 pounds before he found a genuine bidder and even he was foreign (european)
