The below is originally taken from a well know Trusted Reviews site which I won't link to due to hardware e-tailor adverts on the site. The article explains new Ebay changes which it will be implementing...

Drawing a big sucky negative however is the site's bizarre decision that Buyers will now only be able to receive positive Feedback (I kid you not), while a member who is suspended will have all their negative and neutral feedback removed making it seem a desirable achievement for some.

This seems totally ridiculous to me....and if that wasn't enough -

eBay is raking more in on Final Value Fees (the percentage taken when an item sells) raising its cut from 5.25 per cent to a hefty 8.25 per cent

Official eBay press release - http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200801.shtml#2008-01-29054823

I posted the link to the official statement yesterday and they are lowering the initial fees to list stuff but putting up the final value so they stay roughly the same.

hm, looks like the new guy wants to make his mark.. idiot.
Dont really use ebay nowadays, going to find myself a new auction site, ebay was good back in the day. Freeserve auctions used to be canny too :(

first time I read this I think I may have misunderstood, however, upon reading it in the article, I get the impression that its not the person being suspended who gets their negative/neutral feedback removed, but the people they have left negative/neutral feedback for (e.g. some scammer tries to buy your phone, you cancel the auction, they leave -ve feedback, 3 weeks later, they get suspended, the -ve feedback they gave you is removed)

I stopped using eBay a long time ago... I was planning on using it again... but after this... They can forget it!

Ahh... now I understand, the quoted text was abit confusing.
So it's an overall good thing on that front; that's much better~ :)

They take 8% fees, then if the buyer uses PayPal you're shafted twice.

Don't use ebay :(

I wont sell on Ebay anymore its crazy how much you lose from pay pal and ebay fee's anyway. Like others have said ebay used to be great back in the day but most things listed are close to what they are normally priced these days. Sometime you can find the odd bargin if it isnt over priced stupidly on delivery.

It really is horrendous. I'm simply not going to use PayPal again - It just costs too much and I have 60+ 100% feedback, so it hopefully won't put buyers off :(

Trouble is, it's not the buyer's that's is paying off the paypal and eBay fees... you'll just get sellers upping their delivery charges to "cover" them charges.

Paypal really really dislike me.

I have an email from one of their top bods saying I should take my business elsewhere as my types are not welcome or catered for by their business.

I have a copies of said email saved in a few very secure locations just in case I need it.

You were using paypal for something nasty? Selling Chinese slaves or something?

My beef is more that eBay own PayPal, yet they think nothing of keeping charges seperate.

It'd be better if they could start incorporating the PayPal costs in to the listing so you could see how much you're going to "lose" before you start.
