Ebay manipulate feedback for their business sellers.

contact apple.

Don't do this.

At the end of the day the majority of his customers are happy with their purchases. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out they're non-genuine.

Apple already make enough money by manipulating idiots. The world needs sources of cheaper non-genuine accessories, especially Apple ones.

Recent message from ebay live chat on my business account..

You don't have to worry. Once the buyer left negative feedback against your account, you just have to contact us again and we'll find ways on how to remove it from your account.

Yes the buyer is being a thief, but still... ebay is pretty much the safest place to buy anything.

spoffle, this misconception is the reason that companies get away with charging extortionate prices for simple accessories. Just looked up the official price, £26... and that is for a glorified USB mains charger. Quite simply a complete rip off! The kindle wall charger/ my HTC charger look exactly the same, it is just a charger there isn't really anything unique/special that makes it worth anywhere near that price tag. Oh wait, the apple logo +£20...

There's two separable points here though 1) that the price of official branded goods is often way over the cost to manufacture - I don't think should come as news to anyone, 2) that if you're purchasing something for way below the market value then it should be no surprise if it's not the genuine article e.g. if the price is always £26 give or take then buying something for £6 has almost no chance of being genuine - whether that really matters is up to the purchaser but to claim surprise seems a bit odd.

If you want genuine merchandise then you've usually got to pay the price the manufacturer wants or near enough, if you pay about 20% of the price then you're almost certainly not getting the "real thing", it may well work fine as it's not always something where value is added by the branding but that's a chance you take.

However if eBay are manipulating feedback for business sellers it does raise questions about how much weight you should place on any ratings. In this case though it sounds as if they refunded HAz (who it must be said doesn't seem to have bought in good faith) but he still left a negative and then eBay have removed that negative along with others which may or may not have been in the same vein - I'm not convinced that is entirely as unfair as it is being presented.

eBay have previously messaged me to tell me they have removed negative feedback on my behalf. They said the reason was that the negative comment was not consistent with all the good feedback i'd been receiving and they felt it was received in error.

This was on one of my private accounts with around 90 feedback.

I didn't even know a buyer had left negative feedback and therefore hadn't requested it be removed.

This makes a mockery of the system. The system I use tbh. I would actually probably contact apple even if it did no good.

I have no problem with copies but claiming they are real? No no

Yes it's fair to remove negatives if they are false but this isn't.

I rarely sell on eBay now, fees, BS, paypal.. Etc

My point with the £26 charger is more that USB chargers such as the HTC phone charger, Kindle charger are more or less exactly the same (minus Apples attempt to prevent copies) and for the official versions they are around £6 too. It is true that the official often costs more, but it grates that Apple charge so much more for something which other manufacturers are offering for the same price.

Also when it comes down to it what is the difference between the "official" USB charger and a "non official" charger, sometimes it might be the circuitry being cheaper, but with lower value items it is often just the badge.

The stuff being said about feedback is really disappointing, I had expected more of EBay, this certainly makes it harder to trust anyone these days! I had heard that Amazon are no better, paying people to leave positive reviews abut products they have never bought. C'est la vie I guess..!

Just because a charger isn't branded by Apple/HTC/Amazon, doesn't necessarily mean it is a fire hazard or has poor voltage regulation. Some certainly do, but it is a sweeping statement to say that a "Fake charger" meets those criteria.

Afterall, the larger companies have had similar problems, such as the Dell laptop batteries that exploded when in use!

They are junk fit for the bin.

Wait, so the £2's-worth of charger I got with my cheap Chinese ZTE phone is a fire hazard because it's not Apple branded?

Dear god when will Apple stop their manipulation of idiots, and when will Apple idiots stop believing anything Apple related which is shoved down their throats?

Then market them as 3rd party, don't commit fraud by declaring them as genuine goods.

In many cases you cannot tell that these "official" products are counterfeit by their listing, for example certain phone batteries going for £12 when the oem are selling them for £20 could easily be percieved as a genuine product at that price, especially when false mpn's are given and fake labels stuck on them. These fake batteries are notoriously unreliable with overstated capacities that often undervolt and fail completely shortly after.
