ebay Ripping Me Off?

You can tell the age of some of the posters here, the ones that think it has been always been 10% and that the OP is being unreasonable questioning it are obviously in their late teens early twenties.

I haven't used eBay for years now but last time I did it certainly wasn't anywhere near 10%.

You've never used eBay have you? :p

I meant as in at least with seller reviews you have more information about the seller than other sites such as gumtree. Yes but thanks for the patronism all the same. eBay has come a long way since the scams of the early days, people used to get away with selling all sorts on there. Read an article about 10 years ago about someone selling a kidney on ebay

Not at all, but it is in black and white before you finalise the listing.

Ebay are dead in the water for selling as far as im concerned. They charge far too much these days. I would use Gumtree before considering them tbh.

I gave up on ebay about a year ago, paypal did me over on some scammer with a credit card, it made a right mess, it all happened at once, I sold a load of stuff, thought I got paid but paypal scammed it straight off me and ebay expected me to send the goods I sold, I told them where to go in the end and they had to refund the buyers that had paid to my paypal account that was in a negative balance because of some credit card scammer that they had let into there system.

Unfortunately it's the price we have to pay for a dominant market share. I've sold things on eBay much quicker than offline or on forums, unless I'm already lowballing myself.

eBay know they have the market cornered so they can charge whatever they like. It's not like it's a utility company where you can argue that they're abusing their position, you have the choice not to use them.

Hopefully someone big will come along and throw cash at an alternative because there's pretty much no competition for them at the moment.

There's *rainforest related retialer* marketplace and pl*y trade. Have bought non computer related products from both. Not sure I'd buy any components through it

Holy ****. I remember selling my PsP and other things a few years ago and it cost me about £2.50 max for each item! I'm sorry, but that is a complete rip off!

fees used to be 2.5% or something really low before some greedy ***** came in and took ebay over decided to hike fees to 10% and then charge paypal fees too. Disgusting tbh.
