ebay sniping software

Sniping doesn't always work out well though.

I managed to get a bargain price on an item, only for the seller to string a customer support case out for 2 weeks and then refund me.

Just want to check that if I leave him negative feedback, he can't do the same to me can he?

Deserves to have some sort of punishment, if he didn't want to sell it at that price then he should have set a reserve.

That's not an observation on sniping, it's an observation on sellers not getting what they think their item is worth and then trying to pull out.

Sellers can't leave negative feedback on buyers.

Also amigafan2003, shut up! You're giving the game away.

The more people who don't know how to use eBay, the better for people who use sniping services, or enter bids in the last seconds.

I've always found the snipers to be excellent. I always use Gixen.

I use them for a couple of reasons. Firstly, this thing of putting in your maximum price, and ebay bidding up to that basically means that someone can push the bid until they reach your ceiling, and then keep bidding past that. If you snipe, you can get in at the end, and hopefully they'll not have bid because they think no one is bidding, and you'll save money. Same strategy as physically doing it yourself in the last few seconds, but your internet connection and the confirm button won't let you down. The other reason is obviously just to get in at the last second.

How can you be sure the sniping site won't let you down?

I'm going to give it a try ....for those using Goofbay.... should I just chose 2 seconds before the end?

Any point not chosing that?

You people saying you don't understand are missing the fundamental truth about ebay, which is people get caught up in a bidding war/frenzy.

It becomes less about how much they're paying, and more about the fact that they want to WIN the item, because of course it is WINNING remember.

It's the same with live auctions, the whole point in it is to extract more money than people would normally be willing to pay. If it wasn't, why would they waste their time with an auctioneer calling out and taking the bids manually? Much quicker to just have people submit their highest offer and then see who wins right? Yes. Much quicker, but human nature means doing it the other way gets them more money.

Absolutely. EBay isn't so much about getting a good deal, it's about winning. If the auction ends at a peak time then there's lots of these people around.

Also eBay gives you a little score next to your name and higher is better right? Right?! Validate my addiction!

I've set up a snipe using goofbay at 2 seconds left. If I log in and bid manually at 5 seconds left (because I'm paranoid it won't do it and want to at least bid once) will it mess this up?

I just use whatever chrome plug-in has the most reviews, can't remember what it's called.

Only had to use it about twice though just for when I've had to go out or something, using it every time is pointless.

I won an auction recently due to the fact I didn't use a sniping tool.
I had a max bid of £175, I entered this in advance

Some guy I am guessing used a sniping tool to bid (I guess this as he landed his bid at the exact last second), he also bid £175, I won because mine was the earlier bid. My guess is he was rather ****ed when he checked to see we both bid the exact same amount.

That must explain what happened to me the other day.

I bid 100 about 10 hours before it ended, checked in the morning and had won at 100 but someone else also bid 100 and didn't win!

I wondered what was going on.

The best ebay sniping tool is Ebay.co.uk

Seriously, Try it out, all you do is set your maximum bid and if someone bids less than you are willing to pay, guess what it does, you will never guess..... it matches their bid for you!!!! AUTOMATICALLY!!!!!

If it goes over the price you have set as your maximum it stops bidding because you would be paying too much for something, CRAZY!!!!

I have never understood why people are stupid enough to give their ebay details to other websites/programs for a service ebay offer themselves for free

Exactly this.

You pick something you like, you decide how much you want to pay, you press bid.

Every time I don't win an item it's because the person who won paid too much, simples.

I have always just done it like this but I think if I could win at the very last second for only an extra 50p over my maximum I would be fine with that every time.

What if you aren't available in the last 10 seconds of an auction?

I've used http://www.auctionsniper.com/ for years - been very happy with it.

Good sniping tools can resolve that by setting bid increments.

I set 2 bid increments on my snipes - it means if you bid £175 first and my snipe goes in at £175 it'll increment it up to 2 times - that means in your scenario I'd have won it for £175.50.

Minumum price increases stop the .50p increases lol fail ebay knowlage

Lol at people who dont understand how sniping prevents bidding wars while the auction has ages to run.

This. If you aren't sniping, you're paying more than you need to.

It's all about denying your competition the chance to increase their bids, when they see they aren't the high bidder. People often get caught up in the excitement of bidding, and they will often bid more than they intended, if you let them. Sniping doesn't give them the chance.

I'm surprised at the amount of posters who do not grasp the obvious benefits of sniping. I'm unsure why those of us that do understand it feel compelled to educate them as they're costing themselves time and money, and some in this thread are being rather ignorant in their anti-sniping stance.
Remember that sniping can be done manually or automatically.
But anyways:

And read the reference links at the bottom too :)

I don't get how people don't get why sniping works on ebay - let me try to explain:-

As a previous poster pointed out - sniping works because OTHER people on ebay are morons and get carried away with bidding wars:-

1: Item starts at 99p.
2: Person A puts a max bid in of £20.
3: A day later you put a bid in for £30. As your bid is higher than person A ebay increments the bid to £20.50 to outbid person A.
4: Person B get a really helpful email off ebay telling them they've been outbid. They think "oh dammit I really wanted that item" so they put a new bid of £23 in.
5: They see instantly your bid has outbid them so they put £25 in, then £27, then £29 then finally £31 and they are highest bidder with £30.50.
6: You get an email saying you've been outbid - you think "oh well, it's gone above my max bid, better luck next time".
7: Person A wins the auction for £30.50

What happens with an auction sniper is:-

1: Item starts at 99p.
2: Person A puts a max bid in of £20.
3: You set up a sniper to place a max bid for £30 10 seconds before auction end.
4: Item sits at 99p right up until 10 secs before the auction.
5: Your auction sniper tool places a bid for £30 and as your bid is higher than person A ebay increments the bid to £20.50 to outbid person A.
6. Person B gets a really helpful email off ebay telling them been outbid but they can't do jack about it as the auction has ended by the time they get the email.
7: You get the item for £20.50

See - sniper tools not only let you win more items but they actually SAVE you money and time as well!

This needs quoting, not the best sniping tool is eBay post !
