WooHoo!
After all this time and at last I get to post my own Ebay question :)
I'm selling a few things at the moment, one of which is a matching pair of Crucial DDR2 modules (2x 1GB).
So we aren't talking ridiculous amounts of cash here.
Because of all the scams etc I've put UK buyers/bidders only.
The memory was placed for sale about 12hrs ago, there is a BIN and the auction runs until next weekend.

A few minutes ago I had an Ebay question.
The guy just wants to make sure the memory is working OK (which it certainly was the last time I used it) and asked would I send the memory out to Poland.
The guy has been listed as an Ebay member since June this year, has a rating of 26 and a good set of feedback - only one negative one apparently compaining that something this guy sent wasn't well packaged.
The only "funny" thing is that his location is listed as Lancashire, UK.
Oh and the only payment type I'm accepting is Paypal - something I won't move on.

So with that information etc and this feeling that if I say yes he may well use the BIN - would you ship to Poland?

Why not? :) Have to trust a few peeps.

Nowt wrong with poles... unless he's a nigerian businessman living in Lancashire shipping to his 'brother' in Poland...

mm smells a little odd to me id wait the week out m8 just my op.
iv'e had a lot of dealing on the bay and some not so nice but down to you realy.

cheers

I would be frank with him and say you have a right to be curious as to why he would want to ship to Poland, when his location marks as UK.
Make a judgement on him based on his reply to that i reckon.

Sounds like a possible account hijack. Some scammers get the login details for an innocent unsuspecting ebay users account, buy a load of stuff using fradulent payment methods and you get stiffed when the money is taken back from you and the item is in Poland.

This guy might be genuine but from my experience he's probably not. Avoid it and stick to your guns. UK bidders and addresses only.

Thanks for the replies.
I shall await his response on the "If you're Lancashire, UK why would I be sending to Poland" question and take a judgement call on that.

If you have not tried already, I would recommend selling the item in question in the MM first...

how many posts do you need to access this?

If the account holders location is Lancashire, insist on posting it to Lancashire - let him post it to Poland.

All this "can you post it to..." is a bit dodgy tbh.

The only time I have agreed was for a guy who was clearly a business, and he asked me to ship it to an address with no indication it was from eBay. His feedback was in the 1000's and time was important to him. It made sense so I agreed.

I would be very cautious if I were you, and hope someone else buys the memory.

I sold my Opty 146 to a Latvian and had no problems at all.

But I would only send an item to the buyers registered Paypal address.

been on ebay a long time and heard a lot of nightmare stories about these sort of things, dont bother with it im sure an english seller will come along with nothing dodgy going on! if you werent ok about this buyer you wouldnt have asked the board right?trust your instincts on ebay!

I sold a PDA to a guy in Poland for £360 on the Bay. Had no problems at all but like you I was sceptical at first. My buyer was registered in Poland as well though.

Never ship outside the UK and always send by a traceable delivery method otherwise your PayPal payment can be reversed by the buyer.
