Economic cars

I am looking into a more economical car too, currently have a mitsubishi colt 1.5 diesel and constantly get 50-55mpg from it.... 0-60 published is 8.9 seconds for my 3 door.... £95 road tax....

Ok.

I'd recommend that you get a Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 Diesel. They seem to have great MPG figures, don't seem that slow to 60, and appear to have cheap tax.

Oh wait...

Are you honestly saying you want a more economical car than the one you have?

Ok looked at it, my car is a 21 year old auto and has a 0-60 of <6 seconds :P

The main thing is that your happy in your 21 yer old 15mpg banger ( you neglected to say what it is for some reason ?? :p

As automatic electric cars become the norm a load of you on here will flatly refuse the technology & sit there shoving one lever in with your foot & another with your left hand as you feel good knowing that you are driving a proper seriously cool petrol car car with 100 year + gear change technology :p:p:p:p

Will I? My auto-box doesn't feel like it's 100 years old.

Well I guess not just that I guess, I hate the road noise on the colt, change from a 3 door to a 5 door, slightly better build quality, etc.... So alternatives or with even better fuel economy..... Bearing in mind it is a 55 plate making the engine 6+ years old so would have thought a newer engine would be better with the figures..... They stopped selling the diesel engines in them 2006-2007 I think.....

The tightening emissions standards will guide us to less efficient engines as a general rule- there is a hit on DPF equipped cars. To get emissions and mpg gains you need to start adding yet more complexity and cost into the cars.

To be fair my 1.6 focus picks up better than my mates 300zx twin turbo. I have put a green conical air filter in place of the air box, and the difference it makes is unbelievable. I even beat a prius off the line the other day but it passed me as I was changing into 3rd :( pesky clutch.

You didn't read the post properly :p

it refers to a lot of you on here who wouldn't drive an automatic & for the same reason they wouldn't drive a hybrid/electric, they want to stick with old technology

The reason most here won't drive a hybrid is not because they want to stick with 'old' technology, its because they want to use the best technology for whatever it is they want out of motoring.

This just makes me wonder what people expect they will get from a newer car.

100+ mpg?!

Its a twin turbo Toyota Supra, and its very nice tyvm and can do up to 28mpg on a run (turbocharged engines off the boost use no more fuel than their N/A equivalents ;)).

Also It clearly states in the part of my post you quoted that the car is an automatic :)

Also I don't even have a left hand so :p

Clearly it was a "no brainer" ;)

1) There is no such thing as an Ibiza GTi 8v automatic.

6160-2719 = £3441

.

Asthmatic as above! ;)

It might be a good name for the new Kia Rio though, The Kia Rio 1.1 Asthmatic!

Add in free tax @ £210 and you are getting closer to the mark!

You honestly believe that? Have you failed to notice what forums you are on? These forums are filled with people who love technology and always want the latest thing - and most of us STILL don't want a Prius. What does that tell you?

This thread just keeps getting better and better and better. I mean normally we get one comedy gold poster per thread but I count 3 in this one so far!

0-60 in 7 seconds from a 130bhp 2.0 HDi Peugeot :D:D:D:D

It's an interesting "co-incidence" that his name is Jay....

most people dont know anything about cars and will buy make x y or z because it looks nice, their friend has one or they have always had that make

the more astute will look at MPG / TAX

a very few will care about performance
