Internet doctored? I saw a trained GP who stated this was likely the issue, which turned me to researching it online through a desire to educate myself on the issue. But hell, if convincing myself that it's something else works, i'll take it.

I felt I was perfectly transparent in my opening post:

No, i'm not 'better' yet. But i'm feeling a hell of a lot better than I did two weeks ago.

I'm not calling you a liar, and i hope it doesn't come across that way..but i find it extremely hard to believe that someone who's willy suddenly stopped working wouldn't have googled their symptoms prior to going to the GP. If you did then i apologise.

I hope you will update us when you get through the process and see if it works. I do hope it does work for you.

Did your doctor say anything about morning erections? because the fact that you weren't getting them is a physiological issue, not psychological one...and may point to a more serious issue.(that now won't be looked into)

Yes, i did jump straight on Google, which made me suspect anxiety ED:

http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Erectile-dysfunction/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

Pysical stimulation worked with my partner so it led me to suspect anxiety ED. As a result I booked an appointment with my GP, hoping to be referred to some form of therapist. It was actually the statement of the loss of sex drive and morning erections that moved her onto discussing my use of pornography.

[EDIT] She did have a poke around my junk too, embarrassingly, and didn't find anything physically wrong. I'm also relatively fit; I run 5-10k several times a week and generally eat healthy. These factors led her to state it most likely isn't physical.

Then I would definitely get a second opinion. Morning erections are a physical response to what your body does during REM sleep. Not getting them indicates a physical inability to achieve erection not a psychological one related to porn.

Have you ever had your hormone levels tested?

Never been into porn. In fact, most girls I've ever dated used to watch it regularly and wanted me to watch with them. I'm just of the opinion, I've seen it all before, why keep watching the same crap over and over again. I'd rather do it than watch it.

I'll hold out for another week or so before I get a second opinion; as i've said previously, normal services are beginning to resume. Also just in case you missed my edit, i did also have a physical examination.

I have not had my hormone levels tested, again if things do not improve within the next week I will request one and appreciate your advice.

Wrong. One can still get erections throughout the night, just because he doesn't wake up with one isn't a sign of a physical problem.

Just get married that'll reduce you down to porn and jacking off anyway.

+1 :p

but seriously, lets not try to generalise too much. Some people can enjoy both porn and a fulfilling sexual relationship.

I think half of the problem is guilt, i.e. I just jacked off - and why - because I have a gf. Just relax and enjoy it; one can do both without any detriment to a close relationship.

Remember real sex is more than just releasing ones load - it is about pleasuring and being close to your wife/gf and to me that is the most important thing.

but, op good thread as I'm sure most men will have had the same concerns.

What about cam girls, they're people, but also porn. Perhaps you can have your cake and eat it? I have no such problem, I'm aroused even as I type. :p

I for one have given up porn, I think it's having much more of an effect on men than anyone realises. I found that it was starting to influence my expectations of women far too much and so I gave it up. I imagine that a lot of guys born in the late 80s and onwards first experienced sex or seeing a naked woman online rather than in the flesh, and that's pretty scary.

Its a sign there might be one though. If he is never waking up with one, as he says. If he never wakes up with one, it would suggest he doesnt get them at all during the night.

Absolutely. It's MASSIVELY raised expectations for both genders in terms of performing, various physical factors and the nature of filth, which has gotten steadily more obscene and degrading over time.

The problem is that it hits men particularly hard, with area's (such as size, how long they can last, expectation to perform at the drop of the hat), leading to anxiety and thus erectile issues which leads to a vicious circle.

IMO, porn is an extremely negative thing for society.

I no longer get them, I suffer from decreased quality amongst various other factors. The blue pill doesn't do **** for me, and I'm not 24!

The doctor didn't seem to care but to throw medication (blue pills, which incidentially REALLY did not help and have ****ed my hearing up slightly even to this day, as well as giving me major palpitations of the heart the first time I tried it) at the problem.

You should find another doctor mate.

It can be a sign of heart disease, I would go back to the doctors.

Like you say, porn is giving people unrealistic expectations, and I think it's really unhealthy for a young guy's first experience of sex or things of a sexual nature to be via porn. What compounds this issue is that most parents don't see porn as a problem, or don't feel comfortable discussing the issue, whereas things like alcohol and drugs are much easier to discuss.
