Eddie Stobart Oops!

The commentary cracked me up.

When it showed a truckeer (:p) driving into London on the M25 on a Monday morning and he was shocked when there was loads of traffic so reverted to "plan B" and took the M40 which was also jammed, the commentator said "it seems that everybody else has had the same idea to avoid the traffic on the M25".

I found it on youtube -
- so far, I'm finding it quite funny.....

Example - The tanker is pictured delivering to Carlisle, strange, as I recognise that depot as my own - Stoke-on-Trent !
Example #2 - "Mo" has driven 3000 miles this week, hmm, funny - its pushing it to put it mildly to break 2500 miles in a week....

One thing thats absolutely spot on - "The drivers are never happy unless they are moaning" - Hell yeah! :D

I'm a Tramper by the way.....

Oh well, if nothing else, you guys get an idea of my job I suppose... Any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. :)

every time i see a eddie on the motorway i say "Eddie"... something i picked up from my nutty EX-GF.

Staying at Middlewich Travelodge after Oulton Park race weekends was funny too.... Really annoyed my mate by going Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, for about 30mins. Had about 1 every 2 minutes going past!

But theres no way in hell id be a Eddie Spotter... Its just a lorry after all.

Just watched the show and that Mo is so annoying, moan moan moan, jeez not a good ambassador for the company.

Also they said they do the distance to the moon every day, yet do something like 180 million miles a year, I think they need to redo their maths.

Giving a distance from earth to moon of about 225,000 to 252,000 miles x365 = 92million miles

I hope they stop making it so over dramatic, like that guy cutting infront of the tanker and just laughing, like why didn't the tanker driver move up once the guy in front was pulling away, but instead lift a 50ft gap which a cab could drive through.

Rant over.

Missed it! :o - I was too busy driving my Stobart Truck....

I may watch it later on Demand Five, it does not seem available yet though....

http://demand.five.tv/Series.aspx?seriesBaseName=EddieStobartTrucksTrailers

despite the dramatic music its not quite Ice Road Truckers is it ?

You can tell somebody saw Ice Road Truckers on Discovery at channel 5ive and said

"I know !! We'll make that here, with UK trucks, quick somebody get on the phone to Eddie Stobart"

lol.

3000 Miles in a week in an HGV is illegal if you work out the distance / legal hours.

10 Hours Max Drive Twice a week, 9 Hours otherwise. in any 24 hour period, limited to 55MPH.

a lot of imagination & dramatics on the part of the script, to put it mildly imo.

3000 miles in 45 hours driving = 66.6 mph

3000 miles in 47 hours = 63.82 mph

So Mo did 0 to at least 63.82 mph in 0 secs flat and kept it up for the whole of his driving time, even in the traffic jam on the North Circular.

I need to swap my Scania for a Volvo.... :D

the part about driving the "potential unexploded bomb" tanker driver made me chuckle.

how come the MAN truck is twice the price of the volvo btw ? i thought the Scanias were the daddys.

Tanker spec rigs are different, I get the feeling they priced the unit and tank where the Volvo was unit only.

Petrol tankers are bombs, sure. although I would not want to be near a diesel one if it went up......

His comment "if it catches fire, it will burn" made me laugh out loud. :D

The wiring on tanker rigs is completely different - whereas normal wagons will use the body as an earth, tankers can't for obvious reasons. They are effectivelt 'double-wired'

What's it like reversing an artic? I saw the programme and that lorry park looked quite a squeeze. Yet he managed to turn the truck 180 and reverse back, unfortunately they didn't show that bit.

Have you ever found yourself on the point of being stuck? Can you jack knife the truck in a reversing maneuver or even performing a u-turn?

Its pretty easy once you get the hang of it, that took me a while mind you!

Takes a bit of practive though, and yes, you can U-turn an artic in the most surprising of places - you always have to be aware of your length though....

That said, they are incredibly maneuverable given their size......

Me? Stuck? Never...... ;)

If you really fancy a go, get a copy of German truck Simulator. With a decent steering wheel setup, its (almost) as close as you'll get to a real one...

You can tell they're struggling for content. I watched it anyway but sometimes you just cringed at how bad some of it was. For example... the rally cars looked great, they made out like you were about to see some rally action... but no, all we got was the same clip of the cars setting off over and over and over and over and over .
