If you ahve never played Earth Defense force this thread won't make a lot of sense, so be warned :) This is one the best games i played on the 360 so far, but as good as it is I have become truely stuck on the last several levels in hardest mode and am slowly loosing my sanity. I know what you have to do to beat the below levels but simply get swamped each time by enemies. I'm therefore looking for strategies/advice rather than what to exactly do (e.g. blow up mothership = easier said than done!) :)

Status: Hardest Mode, ~4700 Stamina, 164 Weps , completed 44 of 53 levels so far on hardest. Am currently replaying levels 40 and 46 (using the you tube strategy) on inferno to get the Lysander Z and AF100, but they seem quite rare.

However, there are the last several levels that I have become very stuck on. I either get totally surrounded by enemies or the objective gets too far away. Anyways, I'm looking for tips on exactly what you guys did specifically to beat the below levels - to what weapons you used and what strategy you adapted (I'm that stuck on some of them sadly). Below are the levels:
  • 37 - Eruption
  • 38 - Surrounded (so many ships!!!!)
  • 43 - Spearhead (where to go first, spiders ALWAYS surround me)
  • 47 - Uprising
  • 48 - Wrath (are they having a laugh??????)
  • 49 - Elite (not tried yet actually, but on hard it took forever to beat)
  • 51 - Covenance
  • 52 - Inferno
  • 53 - Starship
Again, any help seriously appreciated here as I'm slowly loosing my sanity. The rest of the levels on Hardest gave you a chance. But the sheer number of enemies on screen in the above levels always seems to wear me down.

just bought this today remember it got top notch reviews and really fancied a no brainer shooter.

played first 5/6 levels so far and enjoying it a lot

Hehe, if you into pure, retro and hardcore arcade style gameplay you won't be disappointed. I even wrote a masterpiece on it :)

One thing that I wish id know about nearer the start of the game: as soon as you get the ZER guns (turret/senty guns) play level 40 at the highest difficulty you can manage for better weapons.

I'd have to disagree with you about the no-brainer aspect though. On easy and normal difficulty anyone can just run through with any problem at all. I noticed a real difficulty increase once i stuck it on hard and the enemies suddenly have loads of stamina, are more intellegant and harder to kill. There is no way you can just run through some of the Hard levels (and definately hardest mode levels - i can vouch for this) without choosing exactly the right weapons and using the correct strategy. For instance, shoot the wrong enemy first and expect to get surrounded in a few seconds, sometimes you need to use a sort of sweeping method so fewer enemies notice you. I'd really recommend you get easy and normal modes done asap as this is different game Hard mode onwards.

Sad this is about this game: most people won't play it as its a budget title (therefore awful right?) and doesn't have pretty gfx like gears of war of similar. Instead, EF2017 has some of the best gameplay around, sigh :|
 
based my opinion on the levels id player so far,

now upto level 8 on hard where its got harder

loving the mass destruction :D

and the game in general :D
 
Love this game, especially in Co-Op mode.. Wish there were more games like this around.

I completed the game on easy and a number of levels on normal so still got a long way to go. Favourite level has to be the big robotic dinosaur, on expert it takes forever to do but so much fun in Co-Op both trying not to get hit.

if you get chance try the Goliath Z (HOOOOOJ blast area) or stringray rockets launchers. I realised i have 164 weapons yet i have only used a handful of em. Have just been having a test with some of the weirder ones and sthey are, er very weird and totally useless imo ;) Try the plasma laucher thing lol.

For a laugh load up either level 48 or 52 on inferno difficulty. If you get one round off before you get swamped you deserve a digital cookie.
 
they do say that this game on certain levels is near enough impossible on hardest difficulty UNLESS your playing with the help of a friend, due to the amount of enemies
