HI,

I've had an Edimax EW-7228APN access point for a while sitting around doing nothing, so I thought I'd use it as a repeater downstairs in the house tonight, so far, nothing unusual.

I put it on a static on the LAN, new password etc after resetting it and then took a look at the universal repeater settings, it allows you to set a new SSID, channel and set the ROOT AP but it doesn't use any authentication to connect to the ROOT AP?

I set the security for the new SSID I'd created with the same encryption key as the ROOT AP WIFI, connected and I'm working and out onto the internet.

Now you may be asking, what is he going on about? I can't figure out how the AP in repeater mode is connecting to and repeating the original wireless signal (WPA2/AES) without the original ROOT AP WIFI encryption key.

Is this me being thick? Yes, I'm a bit hungover still and tired, but it's completely frazzled my head tonight :)
