EE set to launch 4G LTE in the UK on October 30th

:D

LTE NOTE II - with all these variations, the ROMing scene will be harder :(

There were a few variants of the original Note - I had a US SGH-I717 for a while and the ROM scene was fine. The original XDA ICS ROMs for the N7000 were taken from a leak from an Asian variant which was modified.

Stop worrying, the ROM scene will be fine. :p

So I've got me 4G ready phone coming on Tuesday.

HTC One XL - £18.45 p/m 100mins, Unlimited Texts, 750mb internet. (Orange or EE i should say) *Was on a 24 month panther + 500mb internet @ £20.50 previously* Not a heavy browser or streamer *350-400mb usually) so more than enough for me.

£149.99 for the handset on a 24 month contract.

Got myself a Galaxy Nexus at the moment so can get £130.00 recycling it!

Pretty pleased with the contract price plus I never use minutes :)

Was told to call up on the 30th and order my 4G replacement SIM and I'm good to go once it's been recieved!

I know I've been here before, but you realise you can still sell that for around £250?

It always surprised me, people look around to save every last penny on their new contract, but flush £100 down the loo by recycling their old phone  (and I'm not talking eBay, you end up giving them and PayPal about 15% which is craziness in itself)

Anyway, on a different matter, my very long standing Orange contract finishes in November, but I'm allowed to upgrade from 8th October. Now I guess I need to wait and see what the pricing is on 4G, but out of interest, does the consumer tend to have better leverage talking to retentions if the contract is actually passed the point where I can simply cancel?

£250 ? where ??

I would never sell nexus for under £200...one year old phone to loose so much on value ? silly...

Seen £250.00 new on eBay, as for selling the phone going rate seems to be between 160-185 so I'd rather not go through the hassle of genuine buyers etc for that small percentage more overall. So yeah I did have a look! Checked Gumtree but again that's just what people are asking for not necessarily getting.

I've not parted with it yet so time to find the best avenue yet...

The problem you may find with retentions is that if you WANT 4G EE is your only avenue at the moment.

I didn't end up speaking to retentions only the guy on the upgrade team. Discussed what we could do as I was on a damn cheap contract as it was and then started to discuss other options, lower monthly deals etc.

You can find the 4G pricing as of now on the website! You can select the 4G ready phones and that WILL be the pricing there.

Essentially any deal you take is transferrable to 4G so IF you have a low monthly deal at the moment, I assume you do having been with Orange for a long time, then you can keep your deal and bring it to 4G with you! :)

Certainly worthwhile giving them a call and seeing what they can do.

Online I could only get £50 off the handset price bringing it down to £149.99 on my current deal.

Calling upgrades they gave me the £50 off, 10% off the contract cost + 250mb extra bringing me to 750MB data.

I was on a cheap deal so didn't expect much but I'm heading onto 4G with a cheap contract, can't complain :)

I pay £19.50 a month and I don't use the SIM at all. I haven't used it for about a year and was fully intending to cancel the contract as it ended. Now with the Wallet and they seem to have fixed their data issues (plus 4G of course) I could be persuaded to keep my contract.

The good thing is, I can say I now have a Three SIM as they have unlimited data. I can ask them to look at my usage, they will see I've not called or text for a year. They will see I really am looking to cancel.

I find it hard to believe they will let me take a contract and then just give me 4G when it comes? Even then, the only barrier left is data. I can use 750 meg in a day (probably in about 30 minutes on 4G!) so what can they do there...? It will be an interesting conversation. I've been with them since they began (16-18 years?)

I'd be almost certain you'd get a quick sale for £200. At that price they'd probably come to you, give cash, it really is that simple.

Anyway, your happy, no worries :)

Obviously depends how you use your data, there's no harm in chatting to them, usually the best way to nail down some options you can take!

Well what you need is a 4G phone with them and as the guy explained its simply going to be a case of existing customers just need to give them a call and they get their new sim at the same price! Probably why theyre now selling the phones on their site just now!

Seriously though thanks for pointing it out about the prices, will check it out and see if I can get a quick sale at a good price somewhere!

Well this morning both my phones got a text saying that when i re-start my phones, it will no longer show tmobile as my provider but EE.

Re-started both and they are now showing the network provider as EE, which i guess stands for everything everywhere. Sadly none of my phones are 4G/LTE capable though. i do wonder if my 3G speeds will increase or stay the same.

Anyone else on tmobile/orange have this happen??

I had this today - my GF has had EE for a day or 2 on her Note1.

I have had 7 Mb/s out of T-Mobile lately at certain times.

I got the text abot 4-5 days ago... No change, still showing T-Mob

I had the text about 4-5 days ago ,switch on/off still shows T-mobile and sometimes T-mobile-Orange

But today I went up London and in one area I got EE showing.

back to T-mobile now , perhaps EE is still only available in some areas???
